"Singing in the Rain": Double Reed

This movie has been out for over a year. Looking at this year of 1952, I don't want to see it, because I'm afraid it will be too dull. This week's "Glee" S02E07 has two songs from this film, and I just made up my mind to go see this film that's nearly sixty years old.

This is a very typical musical. The storyline is relatively weak, mainly based on dance. Large sections of songs and various dance performances are interspersed in the film. For a musical, it's pretty cool. But from the perspective of modern people, it is too old to be comparable to modern musicals.

Although the plot is weak, it tells a story in general. The film shows Hollywood's transition from silent films to sound films, as well as the status quo that film companies and big stars have to face. The Hollywood actress in the film is a typical example of that era. Can only perform, the voice is poor, the pronunciation is not accurate. Can not adapt to the development of the times, can only be ruthlessly eliminated.

Seeing the movies of that era, I sincerely sigh, Hollywood's ability to make dreams. Beautifully gorgeous costumes, talented actors, dazzling choreography, what a dream factory.

The dancers of that era were also very skilled and danced so skillfully, it was a very relaxing thing for them.

The songs of the film are not so popular in modern times, after all, it has been more than sixty years. The theme song sounds like it was originally sung, and it's also very general.

All in all, a pleasing traditional Hollywood musical, just watching the dance, is enough.

Like "Sunset Boulevard", "Singing in the Rain" is also a rendition of a memory from silent films to sound films... I can't help but wonder if there will be a film in twenty or thirty years, reflecting a similar era of streaming media to the cinema. The impact caused by changes - now that projection equipment has become so common, so many giant screens, 5G6G7G, good bandwidth and data transmission, and so many small theaters are not necessarily very professional, for the required environment (sometimes many people and Noisy) audience, plus maybe the future population is less than hundreds of millions, maybe this "small home theater" will become more and more professional and more popular! ? (Like TV, you reserve a fixed time slot during the screening period, and everyone should watch it) PS The last part of You Are My Lucky Star should be the song that Sigourney Weaver sang temporarily in Alien (for this Ridley Scott paid a lot of money to buy it.) copyright).

Every time I walk in the rain, I think of this classic musical. The memory has been deeply embedded in the bone marrow.

  • Don Lockwood: There's no kidding myself. Once they release "The Dueling Cavalier", Lockwood and Lamont are through. The picture's a museum piece. l'm a museum piece.
