who we are in the end

I took this film as a horror film, but I didn't feel any fear in the process of watching it, but thinking took over most of my mind.

I always feel that the director wants to express too many things, filling the whole film.
Growth, youth, the neglect of family by men during the development period, the desire after the loss of family, who we are,
and so on are all traceable.

Noriko met Kumiko on the website. Noriko on the website is called Photon. She joined the company established by Kumiko, selling family affection and acting skills.
In a real family, there are always endless fights and various unresolved dissatisfaction, but the deduced family is always as complete and harmonious as he wishes. Anyone would be addicted to it.
So Noriko turned into a photon, smiling so brightly in each family that when the real father appeared, he didn't want to face it.
So escape.

My name is Photon, so I'm no longer Noriko. That thread on Noriko's coat is my umbilical cord. I am the true and rebellious soul that broke free from Noriko. I changed my name. I dare to say the true feelings that Noriko has only dared to hide in her heart.
This is self-hypnotic.

So Noriko can really become a new person - a photon who has no family, but can be a family with everyone.

When Noriko's father investigated suicide clubs, he got this answer: "Not everyone commits suicide, they only die when the characters and the plot require it."
So whose plot are they living in? Who is the director. Who is the screenwriter. Who is the actor.

In the end, we live in whoever directed the plot, and whether our names can really determine the role we play in this life.

Who are we.

Noriko's Dinner Table quotes

  • Kumiko: Everyone wants to be the champagne, not the glass. Everyone wants to be the flower, not the vase.

  • Noriko Shimabara: Stray cats roamed the back alleys like blood flows through a vein.

Kumiko: Stray cats form families instantly. No need to feel sorry for them, they're tough, they own this town. We have to relate to each other like stray cats do.
