"Life with a Glass of Wine" is a film about epiphany life, a film about travel, and a film about midlife crisis. The story of the film is a wine tasting trip of two friends, ostensibly as a pre-wedding gift from Miles for his actor friend Jack's wedding, but in reality the two are in their own hands. Miles, a middle school English teacher, divorced although he still loves his wife Victoria, quit his job and wants to be a writer but no one wants to publish his book, and lives so stagnant that he has To "steal" his old mother's money for the trip. This middle-aged man loves wine, and is even obsessed with wine. You know, there is always love, and if it can't be a job, it's the best way to escape reality. So for Miles, the trip was a way of escape. And for Miles' friend Jack, a handsome movie actor, before he gets married to his beautiful wife, all he has in mind is to have a good time before marriage, you know, he means women! So contradictions arise. A person who wants to escape life, especially women, is constantly being touched by the behavior of friends that he does not want to touch, such as marriage, women, work, life. Because for a man, getting to know a new woman you love is like the beginning of a new life, at least the beginning of a very important part of life. Whether it is for anyone, I think this is what this movie conveys, and I agree with it. .
A man, he has his own pursuit in his heart, of course he needs affirmation and the satisfaction it brings, such as Miles and wine. Of course, there is more than love in life, there is also love in social life, especially when you start to doubt that your social role is unbearable and you long for change. Especially when the person you love leaves you, and you begin to doubt love, especially when you are facing a new girl with such a "merry" friend. At this time, your normal state is that you have no basis for advance and retreat, cannot recognize reality and escape and lose confidence in everything. That's what Miles is in.
Maybe the waitress he knew from tasting wines had fallen in love with Miles long ago, and Jack's romance brought that love directly to him. Of course later plot evolution is where the film succeeds and shows the depth of the cast and the director. The madness of Jack's new relationship begins to plunge Miles into even more pain and doubts about love, himself, and even though Maya's waitress who fell in love with him can give him a new life, he's still afraid of new harm or hurting others. This Stephanie. Maya is also middle-aged and divorced, but she chooses a positive attitude towards life. Without a job, she can be a host without giving up hope in life. She is studying in college. Love fails, she has no doubt that love is still looking for true love. She also loves wine no less than Miles. Maya is the sunshine of this film, and also the representative of the film's transmission of sunshine.
Afraid to fight against the surging love conflict, he hopes to honestly tell him everything about himself, including Jack and what he is doing, and tell her a real state of himself, but he is afraid and afraid of being hurt. Sometimes the lie and the truth are confusing to you, like when Jack lied and wanted to have fun but was moved by his desire to live with a girl he knew. Miles and Maya were actually in love, and Miles wasn't lying, but the state he was in and the absurd Jack screwed everything up. Jack brought him into hope and destroyed it. One failure after another, and then his book is completely out of print, and Jack's nose is broken by the girl he cheated on. The unhappiness of life has reached its climax. . . . . .
How should the story end? There is always hope, where does this hope come from? Perhaps it is to change the way of thinking to understand the world. That's the gist of the movie, especially after the trip, what a great arrangement it was for Miles to realize. Another absurd Jack's cry after searching for flowers and asking willows, made him seem to understand that Jack is not destroying the meaning of love, but that he is the kind of person who has been doing things with passion or, according to Jack's words, consciously, which is not the same as love. contradiction. In Jack's wedding, he also let go of his beloved ex-wife, maybe you have to understand and accept reality to have a new beginning. While eating fast food and drinking 1961 wine, he had an epiphany that the job of a middle school teacher might not be that bad, at least that's what life demands. Maya's message made him realize that he may not be that bad, and his writing is also loved by some people. At least Maya has read it seriously and really appreciates what he wrote, and she has never forgotten him. So life will have hope, you have to have confidence. . . . . . The film ends with Miles knocking on Maya's door, what it is, telling the audience that the meaning of life is confidence and hope that never goes away, with which you will open a door to a new life no matter what.
Great movie, especially mentioning its style, it's lighthearted. Sometimes, you think to yourself if you'd act funny when you're in a state of attack, and then you're quiet. Yes, Miles' mental journey is presented in this way, it is very natural and real. The soundtrack of the movie is very European, the performances of the actors are very good and clean, although there are many sex scenes in it, it feels very clean, and the scenery of the southern United States presented in it is also very good! This is a movie worth watching!
Finally, let’s talk about things other than movies. A society built with people as the core must be a relaxed and secure society, a society that has reached a high degree of consensus on the fundamentals of human nature, and a society that gives people hope. Imagine a middle-aged woman working in a restaurant with a failed marriage in China. Will she have time to fall in love, someone will respect her, will she have the opportunity or energy to go to college and create her own life? Much has to be worked hard to build instead of letting the majority in this country just carry on for future generations just to work at Foxconn until they get old and not free from the fear of not having a job. This reminds me of the line in the movie "Transferring the Universe", a Wall Street futures manager said: "If this black man has a good education, a good family environment, and positive encouragement, he will also become a social elite instead of begging. . liar "
