[Turn] The Vampire Diaries and Twilight comparison (original and film and television)

[An article I found in Tieba, I felt it was well written, so I reposted it...] The content is as follows: When I

watched the first and second episodes of TVD, I almost gave up, because it was so boring, it was simply A remake + slow version of Twilight, but episodes 3 and 4 piqued my interest. Although in fact Twilight should be inspired by The Vampire Diaries (although Stephenie Meyer claims to be inspired by an occasional dream). The first three TVD books were published in the 90s, when Stephenie was in middle school, so I believe she read all three.

However, there is a big gap between TVD originals and TV series. Elena, the heroine of the TVD original work, is a school girl with a lot of boyfriends and suitors. After Stefan came, Elena made him his next hunting target, but Stefan always ignored Elena, which aroused Elena's curiosity and desire to challenge... With a series of heroes to save beauty, blah blah blah, Elena found out that Stefan loves herself, but she is afraid of getting too close to herself and losing control...

The difference between Twilight and TVD is that Bella is not a very conspicuous girl. She is ordinary and has uncoordinated hands and feet. But the protagonists of both books are the same, handsome, beautiful vampires tortured by their own nature and mocked by fate.

I liked Katherine's story setting in TVD, which gave Stefan a reason to fall in love with Elena. I think the biggest regret that Twilight gave me is, why did Edward think so firmly that Bella was the love of his life, just because he couldn't see through Bella's mind?

I personally think the design of Damon's character in TVD is a highlight. A cynical, arrogant vampire, deep in his heart there is a deep love for Ketherine, but he is unwilling to admit it, using his cruel appearance to cover up his inner fragility, and venting all his resentment on Stefan. In fact, I personally think that the conflict of Damon's inner conflict in the book is not well written enough to fully develop Damon's inner conflict, and the TV series is very well written in this regard, and Ian really plays Damon's complex role of evil and guilt. the best choice.

The TVD book uses a third-person narration, and multiple story clues unfold at the same time. Some parts are still very exciting, but in general, it is a bit sloppy and hasty, the characters are not excavated enough, and the story is not particularly exciting. Twlight uses first-person narration. The descriptions of Bella's narrative and love scenes are quite delicate and passionate, and Edward's contradictory mood is also adequately described. Twilight as a whole should be called a romance novel, while TVD is closer to a suspense novel.

Personally, I think TVD's TV adaptation is very successful (referring to E3 and E4), adding new contradictions, such as Elena's younger brother and aunt, making the story much richer than the original book. Remove the fearless battles between high school students in the original book (the rivalry among girls), and focus more on the conflict between Damon and Stefan and the people in the town. The TV series has been very successful in excavating Damon's character. Ian is evil enough, but inadvertently there is a little bit of truth in his eyes.

The two leads in Twilight's movie are also good, but I don't like their makeup. Rob is really too white, and occasionally he can see the places behind his ears and the back of his neck where the white powder is not hit, showing black lines, which are ugly. I secretly think that make-up artists should not be too rigid about the description of the appearance in the novel.

A common feature of Twilight and TVD is the lack of sexual depiction. I hope the screenwriters of the TV series can uphold this spirit. Originally I liked True Blood, but I started to lose interest in TB when the show turned into a random mix of people (and non-humans) in a small town.

One more sentence, I hope TVD can become: brotherhood vs hatred, the so-called "righteous" human beings' evil deeds vs the so-called "evil" vampires' righteous acts (just like the cult in "The Swordsman"), vampires Cruel nature vs hope to preserve conscience, Damon's hidden humanity vs arrogant nature, Katherine's external purity vs inner evil. Don't become a sleep drama, a dance drama, a drama of supernatural power saving weak human beings...

I don’t know if it’s an aesthetic problem.
