Said the samurai to his gentle and beautiful wife, "I feel like a sucker and an idiot.
But every day, he was groomed decently and neatly by his wife, and then he straightened up and went about his work respectfully.
One day, he finally got poisoned. He ate untreated conch meat and became blind.
A blind samurai is equivalent to a piece of trash, who may be taken away from his name, kicked out of his house, and begging for a living.
The elder of the family called his wife, held a meeting, and asked: Do you have anyone to ask for?
Wife said: I met the director of Shimamura and he said I could turn to him for help.
The elder said: "Go and ask. This is related to your husband's salary and the honor of our family. Go and ask."
The young wife had no choice but to ask the supervisor with a gift. The supervisor agreed to keep half of her husband's salary, but he didn't want the gift, he wanted someone.
He wants women.
The samurai's old servant noticed that his wife was behaving abnormally, and of course the samurai had already noticed it. He has gradually recovered under the care of this woman, and sometimes he would rather be a fool and blind.
But he is not a fool.
He asked his wife: who was that man.
The wife is honest and weak, and confesses everything.
The warrior's eyes glowed with cold light. Although he couldn't see anything, he said, "My wife was stolen just for 30 pounds of rice. I'm really cheaper than a dog."
He said to the servant: Pack up her things, I have divorced her.
The servant said: But the sun has set, and the lady has no home. Where do you want her to go?
The samurai said: If you want to go with her, go with her.
When the wife packed up and left, she said to the servant, "It's better for me to leave than for him to cut off my head with a knife."
Thunder and lightning outside.
The samurai wept secretly in the room.
From that day on, he picked up the knife that he had put down, and practiced every day, from spring to winter, without food and scarred, and then one day, he found the man who stole his wife.
Someone once asked him: You are blind, what kind of knife do you still practice?
He said: "I just wanted to die with someone.
But the result is not the same. His skills have become perfect without knowing it. Although he is blind, his soul can see the coming and going of the knife.
He killed the enemy.
The two birds that his wife raised for him had long since died. He carried the empty cage and leaned on a cane, sitting in the empty courtyard and threw the cage into the fire.
The servant said: "Sir, let's ask a girl to cook."
He said: Good.
He ate and said to himself: Why am I not stupid? Why can't I be stupid?
He laughed.
He put down his chopsticks and said to the servant: call the cooking girl.
The servant hesitated.
The murderous look in his eyes came out again, and the servant had to call the girl who came to cook.
The samurai said to the cooking girl as he used to talk to his wife: I want hot water.
The girl poured hot water for him. hand it to him.
He grabbed the girl's hand: fool, can't I eat the food you made? Do you think I will forget the taste of your cooking?
The girl cried: Then, can I stay?
He hugged her without saying anything.
He said to the servant: Go and buy a new bird cage.
The servant looked at the couple and smiled: Yes, there is a pair of birds.
………………End of the story.
This is the 2006 Japanese film "Part of the Samurai", I watched this film and still can't sleep.
As I write these few lines, I have a heartfelt admiration for the entire group that made this film. I respect these filmmakers who do their work seriously. I have more respect for the humble but tall samurai in the film.
highly recommended. One of the best Asian films of the 21st century.
