Once, I was so close to heaven

"On the Other Side" and "The Edge of Heaven" are the two titles of the film. I prefer the latter, the images of heaven and the edge bring infinite reverie.

If heaven is the territory of Allah, then I will never get there, because I love you more than I love Allah. Near the end of the film, looking at the crowd of pilgrims on the street, Naiyat slowly told the classic story: In order to test Abraham's loyalty, Allah ordered him to kill his son as a sacrifice. Accepted without hesitation, Allah, moved by the devotion of Aham, gave him a sheep as a sacrifice.

When little Nyatt asked his young father if he would do the same, the father said, I would even make god my enemy to protect you. Again without a shred of hesitation. Between heaven and son, the father chooses the son.

Searching for Yeat's daughter from all over the world, a large part of the reason is to help atonement for the murder of Yeat's father by mistake. In the end, Nayat gave up the atonement and returned to his father's side. After all, Atonement is a burden that is too religious and too heavy. After all, between God and Father, he also chose the latter.

The song of life that I listened to in the small supermarket next to the gas station is also the song of death. The singer who is similar in age to Naiyat is long gone. You never know when death will visit. The next set of shots, a long road, from the unobstructed seaside to the noisy and crowded streets, from the foggy day to the flickering night, the scenes of life are always changing, and the white sports car drives into the small. In the alley, Naiyat's tired and lonely face was reflected in the car, without any expression.

At the time of Yate's death, I had stubbornly believed that this prince-like man would find Eta, his Cinderella, compensate her, and treat him well. However, he never really met her. The female student on the campus who had passed him countless times, the female student who slept recklessly in his class, was the Eta he was looking for. Here she comes, and you can imagine her slowly walking into his small bookstore, and you can imagine the scene where she lay down in his apartment. And he disappeared, along with the missing person notice for Eta. The camera stares thoughtfully at the blank space where the missing person notice was torn off on the bulletin board. We might even hear the audience sigh. Yes, he will pass her "tacitly" for the last time. Life is countless times to deduce such a yin and yang difference.

He may never know that he helped Yeet's daughter, Eta, to get through it when he was at a loss. When he reaches out to Lot, when he brings courage to Lom, he is actually helping Eta. He virtually saved Eta from prison. The two parallel lines of Naiyat and Eta have also intersected in the face of great love.

The film is a trilogy, the first is The Death of Yate, the second is The Death of Lot, and the third is the Edge of Heaven. In the film, death floods in like a flood and suddenly grabs you by the throat, leaving you too late to say goodbye. Yate and Lot will meet at the intersection of heaven. I wonder if the messenger of God will ask that question when the dead meet on the edge of heaven? Would they be denied entry to heaven for the same reason?

Take your hand, wherever I am, I feel like I'm running towards heaven. do you believe it? I have never doubted.

The same goes for Lot. This is a woman who fell in love with a woman. Rather than saying that she fell in love with a woman, it was better to say that she fell in love with the bright moonlight in front of the bed. Etta is moonshine, as her name is, she is the bright moonlight, elegant and spotless. And Lott himself is the poet guarding the window. Lot said to her mother on the phone, I feel needed. She needs me. In the hesitation, she heard Eta cry to herself in prison, a fragile heart hidden under a strong appearance. Lot, who resolutely rushed to Turkey to rescue Eta despite his mother's opposition, knew from the beginning that he would be on the road of no return. Lot's pale face had grit written on it, and it was a monologue to the audience: Never thought of going back to the days without you. In those days, I didn't even have the courage to look back.

What is Eta in jail for? If I could, I'd rather never mention the word. Hearing Lot's death, Eta burst into tears. After being released from prison, Eta sailed to join Lot's mother. The camera moves slowly, and the mid-ground quickly becomes a close-up of Eta's back. At this point, we can't see her facial expressions. All I could hear was the sound of great waves crashing into the sand, and I couldn't tell if Eta was crying, or the sea was whining: the sea wind was eroding my soul, if I still had one. Everything is a thing of the past. If I could do it again, I'd be waiting for you in that corner of campus where I first met until you showed up. The ship moves forward without hesitation, without stopping for a moment, just like the classic sentence in "The Other Side of the Sky": You are gone, life is still there. Saying goodbye to the farther and farther shore, at this moment Eta is about to go ashore and arrive on the other side of life.

At this time, a man was also watching the other side, that is Naiyat. In the camera, Naiyat took off his sunglasses, and finally he could see his expression clearly, neither joy nor sorrow. Only the expression of waiting. Eta's story has come to an end, so Naiyat's story will also end in this waiting. He sat cross-legged and looked into the distance. The sky, the sea, and the sand divide the screen into three parts, and he is hidden in such a seascape, like an obedient child, waiting for his father to return. The sound of the waves burst, and the waves hit with a low voice, as if whispering:

Once, I was so close to heaven, but I chose to stay away, because I love you more than love God.
