The intersection of start and end points

I watched SAW3 a long time ago. In order to write a film review, I revisited the classics today, skipped some bloody scenes, and focused on some details. To put it simply, I think SAW3 is better than 1 and 2 (forgive me for not having time to watch 4 and 5).

1. Briefly talk about some ideological things.

If the topics discussed in SAW1 and 2 revolve around "CHERISH" and how to cherish the hard-won life, then I personally think that SAW3 should revolve around "FORGIVE", how to make life meaningful, and Not living in revenge. Let's take a look at the main line of the movie. JEFF is imprisoned and faces several tests one after another. With the deepening of the test, JEFF is getting closer and closer to the person responsible for his son's death. And this series of tests did not directly destroy JEFF's body. In other words, these tests were a cleansing of JEFF's mind. Whether it is rescuing the people involved in the death of Jeff's son, burning his son's relics with his own hands, or taking a bullet for the "murderer", these seemingly innocuous tests are actually great trials for people's hearts. So why did JOHN (JIGSAW) come up with this trick? A personal experience of "FORGIVE" is also a test of "apprentice".

JEFF seems to have learned to forgive, so what about AMANDA? JOHN was disappointed by AMANDA's cruel methods and deprived people of the right to survive a long time ago, so by the test of JEFF, he took a look at AMANDA's understanding of forgiveness. Obviously, the performance of the apprentice was disappointing. She repeatedly emphasized that those people did not need to live. In fact, AMANDA unknowingly ended her own life and became the most despised "MURDERER" in JOHN's mouth. In the end, it can be said that AMANDA killed himself.

Going back to JEFF, a series of trials seemed to make him learn to forgive. Unfortunately, when he faced JOHN, it was still difficult to hide his thirst for killing and revenge under his strong body. Invisibly, AMANDA's killing of LYNN can be regarded as the last coffin nail for the Jeff family's coffin. If AMANDA forgives LYNN, and LYNN explains to JEFF again, maybe everyone will survive, maybe as JOHN said at the beginning, they will be very grateful to him. It's a pity that it's too late, one step is wrong, one step is wrong, and everyone has no chance to understand the true meaning of "FORGIVE".

2. Still admire the depth and horror of JOHN (JIGSAW) design,

why do you say that? From 1 to 3, (except for the killing tools designed by AMANDA) I am deeply impressed by JOHN's design. It's not only the exquisite mechanism that makes people extremely painful but can escape from life, but also the incomprehensible and unfathomable layout.

The plot in 1 doesn't seem too complicated, but look at 2. A pre-recorded video teases everyone, and it's not until the end of the movie that the audience has a little grasp of what's going on. Look at 3 again, the two-step test, one is JEFF's personal practice of forgiveness, and the other is LYNN's test. But what ultimately tells us is, "your life is in your hands as well as in the hands of others". This interlocking layout not only makes people look at it with relish, but also reflects the complexity of human nature, which is really wonderful.

3. Details determine success or failure

Many people have the same attitude as me, that is, SAW3 may be the best one, why? There may be many reasons, but in my opinion, one of the indispensable ones is the details.

Detail 1: Appeared at about 23 minutes and 20 seconds, when AMANDA pushed DOC.LYNN to see JOHN, there was a very inconspicuous action, that is, AMANDA leaned on the wheelchair and slid with the strength of pushing the wheelchair ( Children like to do something similar on a supermarket cart). Why this action? From a personal immature point of view, the action here is still a reflection of the character's psychological state. To put it bluntly, this detail tells us: AMANDA does not take the business that JOHN is engaged in seriously, but has a slightly morbid entertainment mentality (this statement may not be accurate). Not being down-to-earth, not taking it seriously, and not being able to strictly abide by RULES, these led to the final death of AMANDA.

Detail 2: "DEATH IS A SURPRISE PARTY. UNLESS, OF COURSE, YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD INSIDE" appeared at about 25 minutes and 55 seconds. This sentence came from JOHN's mouth. It is not difficult to see that this sentence has been told to everyone, He is not afraid of death, and his death is reflected in JOHN's confusion (when JOHN was in a coma, a woman appeared in his mind, that lady may be JOHN's wife, and there may be many stories). To sum up, why JOHN likes to test HUMAN NATURE under the threat of death, and why he is calm in the face of the police, maybe because JOHN is not afraid of death.

Detail 3: At about 31 minutes and 10 seconds, JEFF struggled with himself in the mirror (of course, the impression in his mind). It can be seen that JEFF wanted to kill the murderer who killed his son from the bottom of his heart, and later Seeing his son's relics, it was obvious that Jeff couldn't let go of his son's death. Therefore, several tests of JEFF are even more important.

Detail 4: Appears at about 54 minutes and 25 seconds

"YOU CHOSE HER COS SHE'S THE BEST , RIGHT?"

"THAT'S ONE REASON I CHOSE HER."

The simple dialogue lays the foundation for the story that happened later. JOHN did not tell AMANDA that another reason he chose LYNN was that she was the wife of JEFF, the test subject. Then AMANDA shot LYNN, and JEFF shot and killed AMANDA. It can be said that karma has long been fixed.

In addition, there are many wonderful details, you have to discover by yourself, due to space limitations, I will not go into it.

4. The intersection of the starting point and the ending point (sounds a bit like the name of the Detective Conan theatrical version...)

SAW3 has become the most exciting one. In addition to the above three points, there is another important factor, that is, SAW3 is strung together All stories, but also give the story an ending.

LAWRENCE, ZEP and LYNN work in a hospital and JOHN is one of their patients; AMANDA is caught in jail by MATTHEWS, etc. All stories, all characters are connected by inextricable relationships.

AMANDA killed MATTHEWS, wounded LYNN, JEFF killed JOHN, and the explosion killed LYNN and JEFF, even JEFF's daughter. . . In short, almost all the people who have appeared have an established ending, and most of this established ending is miserable.

Having said so much, I always feel that SAW should stop here, but after all, there are still SAW4 and 5, 6, and I have time to watch it.
