Sniper's Golden Vest

I always like to understand this film in this way, that is, this film has nothing to do with sniping except for the Chinese translation of the title. I really don't want to see the sniping, which I admire so much, be associated with some evil. In fact, if you watch this film, the sniper rifle has almost never appeared in the film. Does this mean that sniper in the film may be just a gimmick, a form?
But I don't think it's that simple. The existence of sniper rifles not only provides a reasonable basis for the entire story, but I feel that sniper rifles are more effective. Not only does the villain's identity as a sniper give him a mysterious aura, which is more in line with his words and deeds in the film, but this invisible threat is more oppressive and makes people nervous, so There is more of the suspense of the enemy. The charm of sniping! Sniping is really a golden garment!
In fact, if the commercial elements such as suspense and action are excluded, the film is basically an ethical emotional drama. A man who lost himself in modern urban life, derailed emotionally, deceived in his career, and was on the verge of betrayal and separation. Later, for some reason, he repented, changed his past, and finally completed his self-redemption. But if this is the case, the audience of this film will be much narrower and become a niche film. Hollywood has a lot of experience in this area. You can see that they have incorporated attractive commercial elements on the basis of such a niche movie plot. It's packaged so well, it's like a blockbuster. I had heard that Hollywood's screenwriting skills were amazing, but seeing it today is really extraordinary.
The film's release is said to have had some twists and turns, as it was delayed due to a sniper shooting in Maryland. In fact, in the United States, where guns are everywhere, such shootings are really not new. And this Maryland sniper shooting seems to be the famous serial sniper killing that took place in Washington in 2002. At that time, the murderer used a sniper rifle to shoot 10 people from a distance and aimlessly for three consecutive weeks, hence the name "sniper". However, the sniper in this film seems to have come prepared, and the male protagonist has been specially selected, and it seems that he is specially here to "help" the male protagonist. I don't know if Washington "Sniper" has seen this film.
Colin Farrell is one of my favorite actors. He played against the old actor Al Pacino in "The Plan", and he didn't lose the slightest, so we can see that this man has great potential. A film with suspense and a lot of inner drama like this one has high requirements for actors. He can play the leading role, which shows that his strength has been recognized. In the film, he played the unlucky guy who was trapped in the phone booth and was in a dreadful mess. He also performed well, adding a lot to the film. It's just that I always feel that Colin Farrell in this film has some similarities to "Mischief in the Plate". They are both unlucky and ill-fated people who have been mistreated by others, but their identities are different.
Watching less and less movies recently, and paying less attention to Colin Farrell, I don't know if he has any new movies recently.

Phone Booth quotes

  • The Caller: Everybody does harm.

  • Stu: So you're an actor?

The Caller: Yes, one of your pathetic failed ones. You don't have to come find me and ruin me, I can't get work as it is. I've done some off-Broadway, some off-Manhattan, but that dried up. Now I wait tables, clean toilets, anything I can to make the rent. I'm a walking cliché.
