Simple film review "The Hurt Locker"

The director is Cameron's ex-wife, but this "Hurt Locker" is definitely better than "Titanic" and "Avatar".

In recent years, the United States has produced a large number of film works on the theme of the Iraq War. There are representative works in war films, romance films, documentaries, and comedies. They are a bit similar to the situation of spy films in China in recent years. There are a large number of crudely crafted themes, the most typical ones are "Saving Private Ridge" and "The Battle of Hadisse Town", but the Turkish movie "Iraq Wolf Valley" the year before (Turkey, there are 6 days!) Outstanding, almost subverted all the works describing this war in the entire film industry. Fortunately, the country of the aggressor was born "The Hurt Locker".

When we were numb to the daily repetition of hundreds of people killed and injured in the suicide bombing at the market today in the TV news, someone finally stood up and told us what it was. "Terrorists" are also a group of civilians, broken up into parts. They are old and young. They also love to make horrible jokes with the aggressors. They will also brutally kill innocent compatriots, and they have been regarded as "bad guys" by us. The American soldiers of the United States are just cannon fodder for the decision makers. What they do is, as the protagonist said, "the secret to dismantling the bomb is to dismantle it alive."

This is an extremely pure men's movie, except for a few quick flashes of the protagonist's wife in the domestic American scene in less than two minutes, no woman appears. The tension of the several bomb disposals and encounters in the film is even more enjoyable. The director's excellent use of parallel montages is vividly shown during the first and second missions of the protagonist. I When I just finished the movie, I wanted to drag and watch the photography style of the film. Normally, the process of the movie will last about 30 seconds, but for this movie, I watched it heartily for 30 minutes and concentrated on several bridges. Finished watching with bated breath! It's been a long time since a war movie can attract military fans to watch it so enthusiastically. Last time, the last time it should have been the bridgehead encounter in "Saving Private Ryan", it was more than ten years ago. And similar documentary-style photography is more immersive, and the large and small suspense baggage is a real expression of the true and false on the battlefield. In many cases, ten minutes of tense clips are exchanged for nothing. When the danger appears, some people may think it is too uncomfortable, but this is war.

The last bomb disposal mission gave people a complete experience of a thrilling but extremely cruel and helpless war environment. The soldiers could not see the enemy there. There was just a bomb full of bombs in front of him and locked by terrorists and countdown. Innocent people who only had two minutes, the protagonist persisted for the last half a minute, and finally almost cried and said to the frightened human bomb through the explosion-proof suit, I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, too many locks, I'm sorry... . Then turned around and ran.

There are not so many great sacrifices nor so many thrills in the war. Most of the time, we fall down without even seeing anyone. Most of the time, we don’t have so much time for our children to shoot at the elderly and children. All women who hold weapons, "The Hurt Locker" is such a lively and bloody war.

Even though the ending of the very main theme is a bit like an advertisement for the US military, it almost spoils the documentary feelings of the whole work, but for a female director who shoots such an excellent iron-blood theme, all this is no longer important. Because this is also true. In such a country that pursues equal respect for individuality, nothing should be absolute. The director said at the beginning: war is like drugs, you will be addicted.

The Hurt Locker quotes

  • Sergeant JT Sanborn: Welcome to Bravo Company. Welcome to Camp Victory.

Staff Sergeant William James: Ah, Camp Victory? I thought this was Camp Liberty.

Sergeant JT Sanborn: Ah, no, they changed that about a week ago. 'Victory' sound' better.

Staff Sergeant William James: All right. Well, good. At least we're in the right place, right?

  • Sergeant JT Sanborn: Maybe you shouldn't take this down. You know, we get a lot of mortars at night. You know, the plywood on the windows help with the lateral frag coming through. That's why it's up dere.

Staff Sergeant William James: Yeah, well, it's not going to stop a mortar round from coming in through the roof, you know. Besides, I like the sunshine.
