Not subtle enough

It's another film about crossing. But Americans feel advanced when filming this kind of film, they think it is high-tech, and they feel like it is real.

In fact, there are only two time-spaces in this film. I don’t think there are four or five parallel time-spaces as some film critics have said.

The first time and space is from the beginning to when Doug crosses back. In this time and space, his partner died, Claire also died, the ship exploded, and the murderer was arrested. As for the partner, he only went to the murderer when he saw the note, and Claire died because the murderer had no car and found her again.
But this can't be said to be caused by Doug. There are many space-time problems like the chicken or the egg. If there is no explanation, just explain it as destiny.
No one knows what happened after the first time and space.

The second time and space is the time and space after Doug travels back, and there are actually two Dougs in that time and space. Among them, the one who went back from the first one saved Claire, saved the ship, and killed the murderer, but it was also up. And the second one started a happy life with Claire. . .

However, I feel that it is not subtle enough. In the second time and space, some things Doug clearly did not change, such as the ambulance, such as the explosion of the house, such as Claire's fingerprints and blood coats, such as the word u can save her.
However, starting from the murderer on the ship, everything changed again. The murderer was not on the bridge, Claire was not dead, and the ship did not explode. . .

So, the second time and space is to say whether Ge has changed history. If so, isn't the foreshadowing in front of it meaningless? Anyway, everything has changed. It is already a parallel time and space, so why bother to follow the history in the first time and space in some details.

In fact, I think the most exciting journey is that everything only happens in the same time and space. This is how enjoyable and clear to see. Of course, this may violate the original intention of the film, which is another matter.

Deja Vu quotes

  • Shanti: We used *huge* amounts of energy to create this image!

    Doug Carlin: Alright, how huge?

Denny: Well you remember that little blackout we had a few years back, we blamed Canada, Canada blamed Michigan...

Doug Carlin: Half the northeast. You're saying you guys...

    Denny: 50 million homes?

    Gunnars: [raises hand] My bad!

Denny: Well, I still say we blame Canada, but...

  • Doug Carlin: Is she alive or is she dead?

Denny: Alright: Life, like time and space, is not merely a local phenomenon.

Doug Carlin: [Screaming] Oh Alright! Am I asking a hard question?

Denny: [Muttering] Looks like I picked a bad week to stop snorting hash.

Doug Carlin: I'll tell you what: I will speak slow so that those of you with Ph.D's in the room can understand. Here, look. Here's a monitor, right?

[Throws a chair against the monitor, breaking it]

Doug Carlin: Now the monitor is broken. It's dead. It's not temporarily transitioned to another state of entropy, it's *dead*. Right. Now is *she* alive or is she *dead*?

    Denny: She's alive.

Doug Carlin: Alright. Now we're getting somewhere.
