Z - wonderful political satire

America 2022-02-24 08:02:25

In the latter part of the film, after one of the opposition representatives escaped a thrilling drive-by, he recounted the attack on Mr. Z to the judge. The tricycle galloped past, Mr. Z was hit in the head, surrounded by the crowd in pain, and finally fell to the ground with his head on his head, clearly reproduced in slow motion.
The plot in the first 20 minutes of the film is still quite difficult to immerse in, and the political figures appearing one by one are somewhat face-to-face. However, this political satire drama with homicide review as the main line has many characters and vivid images, and the plot is compact and smooth. Therefore, the viewing process is getting better and better, and there are aftertastes after watching.

Mr and Mrs Z. Mr. Z is killed in the early part of the film, and the deepest impression left on the audience is probably not the political speech that was broadcast from the dilapidated auditorium, setting the crowd gathered in the square and the hidden riots in the background. To me, it should be the dejected back of him walking into the auditorium cubicle after he was attacked before the speech, and the doctor said more than once after he was declared brain dead: "His heart is still beating." Mrs Z was haggard but tight The appearance of enduring sadness seems to have no intention to advertise anything for this innocently murdered politician. It is worth noting that the marriage relationship between the two is hinted at hitting the rocks. Mr. Z lost his mind when he saw the woman in the wig shop. When Mrs. Z was comforted by her husband's colleague, the flashback seemed to be hesitant to speak. When the young reporter opened the curtains to let Mrs. Z see the demonstrators downstairs holding up the photo of her deceased husband, with the disappearance of the woman, the film did not have this kind of jump-on flashback.
Judge. The judge is played by Jean-Louis Trintignant, who played a judge again in Kieslowski's [Red] many years later. It is such an unpleasant character that supports the main line of the film and gradually uncovers the truth of the incident. The judge's point of view on events also reflects the director's (perhaps the original author's) delicacy and intentions: when witnesses say the word "murder", he always corrects them seriously: "You mean an accident, and it is still It cannot be proved that it was murder." When the driver was interrogated, he was timidly interrupted by a stenographer on the side: "Sir, you just said murder, I think you were referring to an accident?" After the silence and thoughtfulness at the time of the threat, it was the sharp eyes that firmly said "You are convicted of first-degree murder" for the fourth time. The panicked and confused general whispered to the lawyer beside him: Is he the Communist Party? Treat me like this. The answer was: no, his father was an army colonel. A bit of dark humor comes to mind.
Senior officials. A face that is afraid of chaos in the world, perhaps the only way to highlight the effect of irony. The most ridiculous and exciting scene comes from the almost identical whole process of accepting the sentencing of the four senior officials: the camera starts with the colorful medals on the chest, and when faced with reporters, they quickly ran away or chased after them in anger. Under the persuasion of the lawyer, he swallowed his breath and listened to the accusation. When he went out, he saw the first exit, but he could not open it. After hitting a wall, he knew to find another way out.
attackers. The demonstrators and attackers in the film came from an organization called CROC. The reporters secretly filmed under the guidance of the online people, and the filming that "captured" the members one by one can be described as smooth and wonderful. The film provides interesting details on the three attackers, including the two Z killers: one later became famous as a demonstrator's self-imagination, and became panic after hearing that the attacker was dead; The first-class driving skill was selected, but he kept his mouth shut about the secrets entrusted to him; one accepted the order and tried to mess around, but unfortunately revealed his tricks.
Young journalists. In retrospect, the real character throughout the film seems to be the young reporter with the moustache who should be kept out of the picture. He was attacked by the army on the night of his speech but did not give up, and his strong professionalism gradually made him a key figure in the investigation process. At the end of the film, he also reported the results and follow-up of this political incident to the audience: the "accidental" death of the person involved or a lenient sentence, the failed opposition party was seized by the military regime, the judge was dismissed, and several representatives were killed or sentenced exile. The final irony is that a female announcer took over and announced the fate of the reporter himself who was accused of disclosing government secrets.

  • The General: With the outbreak of such "-isms" as socialism, anarchism, imperialism, communism, etc., sunspots began to swarm across the face of the diurnal orb. God casts no light on the Reds. Scientists have announced a major increase in sunspots since the advent of beatniks, Provos, and, most of all, pacifist tendencies from Italy, France and Scandinavia.
