poor duke

This film takes Nicole Kidman's beauty to the extreme, but I personally don't think she's that pretty. This is a story about the twists and turns of love between a down-and-out literati and a low-level dancer. The plot is not special, but the story is told very logically, and the stage sets, songs, dances, and makeup are also perfect, so it's a good film.
An authentic Cancan dancer commented on Nicole Kidman, saying, "It's alright, she has tried her best, so it can be seen that not everyone can play a cancan dancer." When the writer met Satine she was terminally ill, so it was bound to be a tragedy, but no one knew about it except the boss. The duke fell in love with the dancer, and the theater owner needed investment, so Satine became a bargaining chip to defraud the investment, while deceiving the duke and cheating on the writer who was in the muddy water. The theater owner said that love is not something that lowly people like us can pursue. In the end, the Duke found out that he had been deceived, and threatened to kill the writer in a fit of rage, but of course he did not succeed. The dancer finished the play according to her plan and died in the arms of her lover. The boss turned out to be a good guy in the end.
In fact, I think the worst is the duke, who spends a lot of money to pursue his lover, wears a cuckold all the time, and the script has to be played according to the writer's intention. Isn't that humiliating, in this case, everyone will become angry and want to kill. In the end, the script was still not changed, the theater owner was on fire, the beauty died, and he was busy doing his own thing. The initiators are all bosses, forcing Satin to lie to the duke, and he also lied to the duke himself. The duke has become a bad person, do you say that people can't pursue their own love if they have money? If you rejected him in the first place, he would be fine. Probably wrong because he's not as handsome as a writer and a bit stupid. It seems that it is not only the Chinese who hate the rich.

  • Nini Legs-In-The-Air: This ending's silly. Why would the courtesan go for the penniless writer? Whoops. I mean sitar player.

  • Toulouse-Lautrec: He's got a huge... talent .
