flying legend

If there is music that moves me more than Liang Zhu, it must be Hisaishi's Castle in the Sky.

Accompanied by a crystal harp, the girl Sheeta fell from the sky. The plain-colored sky and clouds set off the girl's quiet face, just like the title of the movie's original soundtrack - Innocent (the word is so rich in meaning that it is difficult to find a word in Chinese that accurately corresponds to it). Just as Xida accelerated and fell, the violin entered leisurely, followed by the cello group, playing the soul-stirring main melody together. At this moment, the flying stone she was wearing shone dazzlingly, lifted the girl up, and slowly landed in the hands of the surprised boy Bass. She was so light that she seemed to have no weight; she was so peaceful that on her sleeping face there was only peace.

This opening reminds me of UP's equally touching and tender moments. With the replacement of ties, the couple who have been in love with each other are no longer in their youth, and their temples are pale. As far as my limited reading experience is concerned, the moments that touch my heart in the film are mostly uncomplicated, and there is not even a single line of dialogue - for example, at the end of artificial intelligence (AI), the teenager who has gone through hardships sits in front of his mother's bed and accompanies her. Spend the last night; or two robots in WALL-E chase and fly freely like butterflies in space. Perhaps this is the effect of a good film on life. When we are slack, melancholy, and confused, it restores the simple and authentic life and reminds us where we came from and where we are going.

A girl who fell from the sky, a simple and brave boy, a city floating in the eyes of the storm, and a robot silently guarding the garden. This is a fairy tale from childhood, and it is also a legend to cleanse the hearts of adults: a fairy tale about flying, a legend about searching. As an image, flying can always touch people's already tired nerves and inspire people's innocence. From the cute big flightless bird in UP to the towering tree covering the city in the city of the sky, the legend of "flying" ties colorful balloons to every childlike heart and sails away.

The theme of flying is always exploration and pursuit. The old man pursues the fairyland waterfall of his childhood, and the crowd pursues the lost city in the sky (Laputa). However, a more critical proposition is what happens when we persevere and travel through mountains and rivers to reach the holy land in our hearts? This proposition has a direct discussion in UP. The old man gave up the big bird and dragged the house to the Fairyland Waterfall in a fit of anger. As a result, there was only a greater emptiness and loneliness waiting for him. In fact, the pursuit of wonderland and the exploration of the unknown are essentially the verification of self-identity, and the exploration itself is only the externalization of this verification process. Perhaps, it is not difficult to come to Wonderland Falls - it is just the first page of our adventure, the difficult thing is to choose to care, to choose to love. Choose to care for the little explorer who lacks fatherly love, choose to trust the talking dog, choose to help the big flightless bird, perhaps, this is the real adventure, this is the journey of happiness .

However, what courage is required to make this choice! As a classmate said, most of us lack the courage to love, only the courage to face loneliness. Compared with the normal loneliness, we are more afraid of the ridicule of others, embarrassment after mistakes, and even ecstasy after success. The nature of risk aversion makes us tend to choose the stability and safety in the familiar environment, while the nature of suspiciousness makes us instinctively reject a big galloping bird, even if it just wants to give us a hug. Unfortunately, as stars change, we will eventually grow old. Perhaps the greatest tragedy is not that the hero is twilight, but that he finds that his adventure has not yet begun.
If everyone is an island, then the greatest adventure is the attempt to connect the islands.

Castle in the Sky quotes

  • Dola: [escorting Sheeta toward the galley] Gotta start talkin' like a real pirate!

Sheeta: [nervously] I've been practicing! Um... Harrrrr, matey! Shiver me timbers!

    Dola: [not impressed] Keep practicing...

  • [Louie and Pazu are in Tiger Moth's engine room]

Louis: Hey, Pop! I've finally found ya an assistant!

Papa: [disgruntled] Stop yelling at me! I can hear you. Believe me, sometimes I wish I couldn't.

    Papa: [to Pazu]

Papa: Come on, assistant! Let's see what you can do!

Louis: [whispering in Pazu's ear] Uh, hurry up. He is even tougher than my mother.

Papa: I need someone who's *mechanically* minded, not some half-baked, swashbuckling Casanova wannabe!
