The Boy Who Will Die-----Remember Daniel

"But he never really got on the field. To him, war seemed like a beautiful parade on the playground, or a parade of heroes."

This is a line in the movie "My Son Jack," starring Daniel. Pardon me being mean, but it's not too much to use in Daniel's acting career since Harry.

Playing Harry was the British boy's greatest fortune, and it made him doomed to be associated with the name Harry Potter forever. No matter how old Harry was, he was no older than seventeen in the ending "Ha 7". But the subconscious seems to ignore Daniel, the boy who will definitely step into the film industry with the Harry label throughout his life. When "Ha 5" was still using Harry's first kiss with a Chinese girl as the biggest stunt in the whole film, Daniel had already performed naked in the drama "Horse Lover".

It was followed by the Australian independent film "December Boys". There's no question that Daniel is a mass box office guarantee for this niche movie. Especially that smashing passion scene. Although the famous kiss scene in "Ha 5" was filmed rough and fuzzy, I still sighed and sighed when I watched it. With tears all over his face, Harry finally grew up. And Daniel's first taste of the forbidden fruit in "Boys in December", like his name in it - MAPS, can only be said to be insipid. ----- The director cannot escape the suspicion of deliberately provocative.

As for Daniel's performance in "December Boys", it can only be said that it is an image of a teenager with no characteristics. There will be sadness, anger and ignorance, but that's all. Like an overdrawn bow, not only is it not easy, but it is not gradual, and the overall feeling is very stiff.

Daniel is too tough in "My Son Jack". Especially with long takes, it gives the feeling that he doesn't yet have control over his facial expressions. But other than that, he does improve on Harry and December Boys. Refreshing (except for this image of course).

Both "December Boys" and "My Son Jack" are pretty good movies if you don't see them in Harry's eyes. It has the unique humanistic temperament of niche movies. But it is a pity that success is also Harry's failure. If Daniel wanted to get rid of Harry's image, he didn't have to play such a contrasting role. It creates an illusion of haste and unreachable. In the words of a netizen, I can't bear to watch more of his movies, it makes me sad.

I don't think I'll be able to bear to watch any of his movies other than Harry in the future. If so, as I am about to die at the age of seventeen. He is my boy who will die.

My Boy Jack quotes

  • Rudyard Kipling: [after being informed of Jack's death] By all accounts he was very brave, so few of us have the opportunity to play our part properly. But he did. He achieved what he set out to achieve.

Caroline Kipling: He must have been in such awful pain.

Rudyard Kipling: If you talked to wounded soldiers they would tell you the pain only sets in later. So, he was lucky. I was done with quickly.

Caroline Kipling: Don't tell me he was lucky! He wasn't lucky, or... or Brave, or happy! Jack was eighteen years and 1 day old! He died in the rain, he couldn't see a thing, he was alone! You can't persuade me that there's any glory in that!

  • Caroline Kipling: [crying] I miss him.

Rudyard Kipling: [bursts into tears] So do I.

Caroline Kipling: I can feel his head on my chest. I can feel his thick hair under my fingers. I can hear him laugh. I can feel his heat against me.
