"Almost Famous" is still a pretty light-hearted movie on the whole. The verbal conflict between William's mother and William's sister makes people laugh at the beginning, especially when the mother points at Simon & Grafunkel's album cover and angrily criticizes them for On Pot. The scene is even more hilarious. Little potato William Miller is finally on the road, quickly gaining the trust of Stillwater's narrow-minded members, perhaps because of his purity. He's not a magazine reporter with ulterior motives, but more like an ordinary Stillwater fan, who can be enthusiastic and objective about each of their works. In front of those artists, he was more accustomed to acting as a listener with that silly smile. In this complicated environment, his innocence dispelled all the vigilance of those musicians. The Rusells call him The Enemy unnecessarily, but they all see the kid as their friend.
I thought William could easily complete this maiden interview, but he didn't want to meet Penny Lane, the girl who was with the group. Penny Lane is a rather mysterious character, she is vague about her identity, age and so on. I'd rather take her word for it, she's Band Aid, not Groupie. The flesh and blood yearn for a life of erosion, follow Stillwater today, and follow Deep Purple tomorrow. Penny Lane seems to have more real feelings for the guitarist Russell, which can be seen from the plot of her taking drugs and giving up after she abandoned Russell. Presumably she also knew that the love with rock stars was out of reality, so she let go at the right time and went to the Mecca of rock and roll in her heart. Even for William, it's hard to say how much truthful confession Penny will have. Is her real name her candid "Lady Goodman"? Not necessarily, William shouted "Lady" when he said goodbye to her at the airport, and countless ladies stopped to look back, but she was not there. Perhaps it was her mysteriousness that attracted fifteen-year-old William, who was always easygoing and even had a bad relationship with the band because of her. But in the end, Penny also helped William a favor. Russell came to William's house unexpectedly under her arrangement, and the two opened their hearts, which constituted the final happy ending of the film.
What is more impressive is the scene of the plane bumping in the film. Between life and death, the detached band members also revealed their secrets to each other. For example, so-and-so slept with so-and-so's girlfriend, so-and-so was unhappy with so-and-so, and so-and-so was gay. In the end, of course, the danger was saved, and Stillwater's confession to each other was more like a joke. During the viewing process, I thought of Lynyrd Skynyrd, who belonged to the same southern rock style, but they suffered a real plane crash in the end, and the band was hit hard.
It is worth mentioning that the lead singer of Stillwater turned out to be played by Jason Lee, the star of the spoof comedy "My Name Is Earl". Unexpectedly, Ah Rou with a drake voice put on a shawl and wig and transformed himself into the core of the band. Forming a band is really a blessing. It's something that doesn't have much technical content.
The scale of the film is really not open enough, and the band members occasionally smoke marijuana and play naked checkers with the fruit. That's what it looked like in the 70's, but it's pretty exciting to hear the names in the film, Black Sabbath (Stillwater is their warm-up band), Bob Dylan, etc., but they don't really Showing up, I just saw David Bowie's iconic rooster head flash by. It's normal for a rock band to have fruit, and it's a lot of merit. Isn't the glamorous Liv Taylor the product of the combination of Steve Taylor and Guoer?
