watching this movie, I understand why the title is called Apocalypse. The ancient and mysterious Mayan civilization is displayed in layers under the lens of Mel Gibson, who is keen on ancient civilization. It is primitive, strong, savage but not lacking in wisdom. The costumes, ornaments, tattoos, oil paintings and various totem murals of the actors are dazzling. The prosperity and decline of the Mayan civilization has always been a big puzzle in history. Through this movie, we seem to be able to get a glimpse of the reason. Like the Passion of Jesus, the description of the long scene in the middle is a bit lengthy, but there are more horrified scenes, living people offering sacrifices, digging hearts, beheading, and depicting the ignorance and cruelty of ancient civilization. In the second half of the jungle chase scene, there is inevitably some Hollywood color, but it also makes us not look too boring. Like all blockbusters, the protagonist has been honed to understand his father's words and truly matures. If the movie is just like this, it is just a general costume movie. The real climax came at the end. The chase and killing were not over yet, but both sides stopped. When Tiger Claw and the other two looked forward in horror, I was guessing what they saw. It was a beast. Other people, or other natural disasters? But the slowly cut shots shocked me greatly. In front of them was the Spanish fleet. They had never seen anything like this before. Facing such a behemoth, they were completely stunned. All the cannibalism was It no longer makes sense. A third party appears in front of them. This is an intrusion from modern European civilization. It means the end of a civilization and the advent of a new era. While the original Mayan civilization is still fighting each other, the advanced civilization in Europe has already matured. The two continents of the same era are completely different. In this world, the Mayan civilization that was once prosperous gradually went to destruction due to its own carnage, making it completely vulnerable to the advanced weapons of the Spanish invaders. Tiger Claw finally said, "We should go back to the forest and find a new beginning." However, this forest no longer belongs to them only. The new beginning is only for Europeans, and their own civilization will be inevitable.
To be ruined... To be honest, this movie has not been very catchy, but with this excellent finishing touch, it is enough to rank among the classics.
