On chivalry

This is the comment I wrote when I just finished watching this film in 2003. You are welcome to post and discuss.

Today (2003\6\25) I watched the movie "Daredevil" (Daredevil), and suddenly I have some thoughts that I want to share with you:

chivalry, many people think this concept is something unique to China, but I don't think it is.

We in China do have our own unique martial arts culture, but chivalry is a spirit that should be shared by all human beings.

In English, chivalry is Emprise, which is defined as the execution of justice through some risky actions that can be called feats. This is completely in line with the traditional Chinese concept of chivalry.

Some people may say that the so-called chivalrous adventures of Westerners are more about revenge and gaining fame and fortune, but isn't there such a thing as China?

These should belong to people's distortion of chivalry. When executing chivalry, hatred or the temptation of fame and fortune should not be used as the driving force.

Many people embark on the road of revenge because of hatred, this is not called chivalry, it will only lead to more chain killings. The real chivalry is to seek basic rights and happiness for more people by means of violence. It should be said that it should be as far as possible. For ordinary crimes, it is best to solve it by educating them after they submit. For larger crimes, they should cooperate with the official and the government to complete them. When this is powerless and even assists Zhou to abuse, those who perform chivalry should implement the method of "killing to stop killing, eliminating evil and doing everything".

There are actually two standards for measuring justice. One is the most basic, and no one's interests should be harmed; the other is more realistic, that is, the interests of the majority should be used as the standard.

Chivalry is an idealistic thing because it costs too much, usually the lives of you and all your friends and loved ones. But it's not that no one does it, hatred can often be the cause, but if revenge is the end, it's not really chivalrous.

Chivalry is a career that requires a lifetime to complete. Friends, let's try it.

Note: Friends who are interested can take a look at the movie "Daredevil" and a novel "Kung Fu" (Taiwan Internet writer Giddens series of urban horror)

Daredevil quotes

  • [answering machine]

Heather: Matt, it's Heather. Are you there? Of course you're not there. You're never there. At least, not for me. Look, I didn't want to do this over the phone, but it's not like you've given me any choice. I mean, It's been three months, and I've never even seen your apartment. Every time we sleep together, I wake up in the morning alone. I mean, Jesus, where do you go at three o'clock in the morning?

  • Matt Murdock: Where'd you learn how to fight like that?

Elektra: My father. He had me study with a different sensei every year since I was five years old.

Matt Murdock: Sounds like he wanted to turn you into some kind of a warrior.

Elektra: No. Just not a victim.
