also premiered at zero o’clock, but when I walked out of the theater and walked on the road this time, I no longer had the illusion that filled my mind when I walked on the road on the night two years ago-the night two years ago I think of "Bumblebee" when I see a car, and "Optimus Prime" when a truck passes by. In fact, the disappearance of this "illusion" is something I foresee in advance, and every time I watch a new version of the trailer for "Transformers 2" before the release, this premonition is even stronger.
"Transformers 2" is as expected "more big scenes, more actions and explosions, more cool Autobots and Decepticons". I thought it would be difficult for me to give a good evaluation if it met expectations. But the fact is the opposite. I don’t think Michael Bay disappointed this time. The story of humans teaming up with Autobots to fight the Decepticons again is still exciting.
The biggest worry before is how the 165-minute film length makes the story not dull, because it feels that the simple story plot has already been spoiled in the two and a half trailers, and Michael Bay does have something like "Pearl Harbor" "Escape from the Island of Clone" is a flop in the direction of directors. But this time, "Transformers 2"'s handling of the story rhythm is the only thing that exceeded my expectations in the whole film, except for the film’s last almost forty-minute "Pyramid War", which caused me a little aesthetic fatigue. , But looking at the whole film for nearly three hours, there is no feeling of procrastination at all, enough to make people sit firmly on the seat.
This is because this time Michael Bay is very smart and restrained in controlling the proportions of the action scenes, leaving more space to portray characters and unfold the plot, which gives the audience enough room to breathe. The director only selected three main action scenes to support the narrative rhythm of the whole film-the opening "Lair" action, Optimus Prime appeared in the air; Optimus Prime in the middle jungle protected Sam with one enemy and two, and sacrificed heroically; finally, the pyramid In the battle, Optimus Prime was reborn and ended the battle. Obviously, these three main action scenes are all centered on the role of the core character "Optimus Prime" in the story, so the main line of the action is very clear. Especially in the final "Battle of the Pyramids", from the beginning of the small-scale conflict to the final full-scale battle between sea, land and air, the whole play can be called the culmination of the movie war action scenes in recent years in terms of space, scheduling, atmosphere, and rhythm.
There is a lot of narrative space left, and the film is basically left to portray the image of Sam's family. Because the pros and cons have added too many new Transformers characters this time, the characters of almost all robot characters have adopted a simple and rude facial treatment method, which is mainly due to the limitation of narrative space, so The roles of Optimus Prime and Megatron are negligible except for the fighting, and other new and old robot roles mostly go through the scene.
The most personal impression is the old Decepticon Tianhuo of the Hornet and the anti-investing Autobot camp, especially the latter’s "weird old man" image setting is very vivid. Other cowardly little Decepticons toy cars and Twins Autobots are more for making jokes, but they are not very creative. It can be seen that this time the director emphasized the distinctive character rather than the inner portrayal in the robot setting, because the focus of the character portrayal in this episode is obviously not on the robot, but on the human role.
More than one person asked me why there are so many human characters in "Transformers". Isn't it the story between Autobots and Decepticons in the original cartoon? The best example to answer this question is the "Alien vs. Predator" series. Do you think that such a movie has a dime relationship with the human beings on earth, except that the story takes place on the earth? For popular movies, especially sci-fi movies, if there are no human characters, the audience will naturally lose the sense of "substitution" in watching movies. In particular, advanced Hollywood has entered the "animation era", that is, all live-action movies are made like cartoons, CG plus audio-visual ice cream, all movies are unrestrainedly refreshing the senses of the audience, and the movies can be recognized by the audience. The "sense of substitution" is even more important.
"Change Heart 1" uses when American teenagers have their first car as an introduction to the sense of substitution. The second episode of this time has been changed to college freshmen entering the school. It is not enough to take the road of campus comedy. In the end, it has to be confronted. In the Decepticon war, the whole family was brought in, and then the family card was madly played. In this way, no matter how nonsense the movie tells a boring story of robots provoking gang fights, the strong sense of substitution will immediately let you enter the situation and forget the nonsense. This time, "Transformers 2" has spent a lot of thought on human characters, and even I personally think that the main reason why it is better than the first episode in terms of narrative rhythm is because of the emphasis on human role modeling, which makes the whole film actually appear constantly. The large and small action scenes become relaxed. It must be mentioned that the S7 agent, who has always been favorite in the first episode, gave a more brilliant performance in the second season. The silly and loyal agent John Tortoro absolutely He is a talented actor.
Speaking of "Transformers 2", it seems that except for a slight cut at the beginning of the film, I did not see the legendary "Mester Bonwe" billboard implanted lens, which made me a little depressed, but I can't find anything else. Where is the so-called "fatal wound" that came out of this movie. Especially for me, the tearful "middle-aged strange bird" that was excited when I watched the first episode two years ago. In fact, "Transformers 2" made me very satisfied.
At the time of writing this article, it is less than 24 hours before the zero-point premiere that I just watched, but I am almost convinced that Chinese fans are witnessing the birth of new box office records, from "zero-point premiere" to " "The first weekend box office record", I believe the final total box office record will completely exceed the "Titanic" ten years ago. Because as far as I know, there are three or even four premieres in Beijing’s major theaters. This situation is unheard of.
As for the global market, it is even more worth looking forward to, because from the cases of "The Dark Knight" to "007: Quantum Crisis" last year, Hollywood blockbusters are often the next episodes after the creation of a new style, which will create amazing box offices. . Therefore, we can look forward to "Iron Man 2" and "Star Trek 2" in the same way.
