But despite this, I still look forward to "Terminator 4" very much. This is based on two reasons: one is because Christian Bale seldom appeared in bad movies, and last year's "Dark Knight" was so exciting that I always added a lot of points to the movies he starred in. ; Another reason is the time when the film took place-in 2018, "Judgment Day" has come, and humans and machines finally go to war. Therefore, this is no longer just a battle, but a war. Although "Terminator 4" cannot surpass "Terminator 2" in the chase and escape scenes, it can show a frenzied apocalyptic plot through a grand war scene. Therefore, my initial expectation is that "Terminator 4" may become the same monument as "Terminator 2," but one is a sci-fi war movie and the other is a sci-fi action movie.
Regrettably, this "Terminator 4" can't satisfy me at all.
First of all, this movie has many inexplicable flaws in the plot.
* As the rebel command, there is nothing wrong with seizing the opportunity to launch an offensive in the war. Although the order is unsatisfactory, although it proved to be a trap in the end, at the time, I did not see that there was anything wrong with this order. Proper. It is the grand-sounding theory of human salvation that Connor is obsessed with saving his future father, which makes me feel inexplicable. Why can Connor say that he can't save his father and all mankind is dead? Is it just because the actual script does not follow the way his mother said?
* Skynet designed Marcus with the human brain body so cleverly, and successfully used Marcus to trick Connor into Skynet, why not immediately kill Kang with deadly tactics such as random guns, electric shocks, explosions, fires, etc. Na, but only sent a naked governor (T800)? Although I know this is a tribute to the previous Terminator, but at least the governor must be equipped with offensive weapons! This is not going back to the old age, because there is no resources and no ability, so I had to send only a T800 to the past. Connor has entered the Skynet headquarters, but Skynet chose to play "peek-a-boo" on the site of the machine... This outdated game of throwing and flicking really makes people think how Skynet suddenly became mentally retarded to the level of a 386 computer.
* Skynet is so sure that Marcus will definitely return to Skynet. According to Skynet, the program is set, but why can't it control Marcus in the end? Although Marcus still has a human brain, since Skynet can let him subconsciously "go north" and eventually return to Skynet, it makes Marcus who has completed the mission easily defected and escaped? Even if you don't use the normal brainwashing tricks in science fiction movies, you can at least limit your actions to Marcus.
Such inexplicable flaws make "Terminator 4" really unable to withstand scrutiny. But after thinking about it, I feel that these defects are still not fatal, and of course they can be avoided. And the overall structure of this movie is actually very good, the scene is very hot (the chase scene in the first half is quite exciting), and the plot is also very tortuous (the Marcus of the human brain is destined to be a contradictory controversy). It’s just a very prominent perception that affected my final view of "Terminator 4": this hot and grand scene, with a tense and exciting plot, actually makes people feel very flat.
So, what I want to say is: Director McG is really mediocre and outrageous!
McG's mediocrity in detail control and rhythm control completely ruined this film with a fairly good overall structure.
* In the beginning, Connor was overthrown by the T600 behind him, and found the machine gun in a panic struggle, desperately roaring and sweeping the machine gun, the T600 was terminated. After that, there should have been a blank space to give Bell a chance to express the tragedy of the end times. But what I saw was that Connor was still screaming frantically one second before, and the next second he listened to the walkie-talkie like a completely okay person...
* Marcus, as the actual first protagonist, appeared without shock at all. Regrettably, a clay figure jumped out of thin air very casually and roared up to the sky, reminding me of the plot in "Shawshank's Redemption"...
* The plot of the meeting between Marcus and Connor was originally arranged very well, based on Marcus's The angle of view is explained and hinted by opening and closing the eyes several times. But when the two finally met, although the audience had already guessed the truth, what we needed was beyond the expected reason, so we should directly use the most shocking images to reveal the truth. However, the director asked Connor and his wife to speak a long line, explaining all the truth, destroying all the atmosphere, and then showing the audience the one that should have been reflected in the audience's eyelids in the first time. Metal Marcus. From here on, I completely lost faith in McG.
This kind of mistakes may hardly come to an end in detail. In short, I think "Terminator 4" shouldn't be so plain, but after reading it, it really feels too plain. I want to see the leadership qualities of John Connor, I want to see Marcus Wright’s struggle and confusion, I want to see Skynet learning the treacherous horror of humans, I want to see a science fiction epic, but in the end I I only saw the big scene, really only the big scene left.
