Character: 3/10
Story: 5/10
Overall Evaluation: B-
Two weeks ago, "The Future Begins" of "Star Trek" and "The End Begins" of "Terminator Salvation" now have an interesting slogan coincidence Has it ever made you dream about it? Maybe ten years later, we will see "Spock vs. T-800" but we don't know yet, ha ha.
No nonsense. I clearly remember the first time I saw the first trailer of "Terminator: Redemption" (hereafter referred to as "TS") a year ago, flashing with the familiar rhythm of "xx x xx" and Christian Bale lit in the dark The fire is the passion and longing in my heart. However, the higher the expectation, the greater the disappointment. As the plot progressed, I gradually realized that the hope of being a classic had been dashed, so I had to put down my expectations and regarded it as a simple popcorn.
Today, in 2009, when the movie is full of various robots, the dazzling stunts of "TS" are naturally expected. The close-up portable photography popular in action movies has a strong sense of reality, but it does not run through the entire film, so viewers who like sensory stimulation and who are afraid of dizziness will not be disappointed. Part of the chase scenes and the helicopter crash at the beginning of the film are very beautifully made, especially the latter. The long shots roll into the fuselage from the helicopter, and then continue to traverse and circle. The process from take-off to being shot down is completed together. The action scene made a pretty good start. The part where the motorcycle slid down from the large robot and chased it was almost comparable to the scene in "The Matrix Reloaded" where Trinity took the locksmith through the traffic-almost. Countless explosions and battle shots can make action movie fans who haven't enjoyed it for a long time have a good time. In addition, director McG has implanted various nostalgias for the Terminator fans in the film, such as the incomparably famous "I'll be back!" laughing out loud. Other visual surprises are for you to watch and discover for yourself.
The setting of the story continues to allow John Connor to save himself in the post-nuclear era-starting from saving himself a very young dad, there is nothing wrong with it. The heavy pen and ink of the story regaining a new life, the unique mental journey of a handsome semi-Australian man and a semi-robot, and the battle adventures between humans and machines are also a good idea. The story also tells the process of John Connor who was not the leader of the human resistance at first but eventually became the true leader. This is also the plot as it should be. However, when several lines are intertwined, in addition to pushing the story to the appropriate stage, the development of the character and the description of the plot details lack coherence and even rationality.
For example, McG's narrative makes all the characters, including the handsome robot and John Connor, lack aura, lightly speaking, it is an experience without emotion, and more importantly, it is basically soulless. John Connor has only "WE ARE DEAD! WE ARE ALL DEAD!!" and so on, but lacks the motivation behind the character and the necessary plot narration. The final act of the handsome robot seemed to be quite great, but it was really baffling. It was deliberately sensational but achieved the counter-effect of cooling the audience's enthusiasm, which was a great failure.
In detail, John Connor said, "we are out-numbered by machines". However, from beginning to end, the robots we saw can basically be counted with two hands. Where did all those robots go? Why can the Skynet Lair of powerful robots be approached so easily by the rebels? The action talent of the handsome Australian guy may be related to the machine body, but where does his great fearlessness come from? He suddenly appeared and asked questions like "this year is that year" and "what are those robots?" Why didn't he get a little curiosity from Connor's young father? For example, the simplest thing he can ask: "What year are you from?" These countless questions, I can only try to put them aside when watching the film, and let my entertainment nerve control my brain.
While paying tribute to the first trilogy of "Terminator", "TS" is still disappointing after repeated selection and rewriting of the script. It not only wastes talented actors such as Christian Bale (and him in the studio to photographers). Slobber), and wasted the efforts of many writers, including Paul Haggis. However, although "TS" is not a little bit different from the forever classic "T2", it still basically meets all the standards of a hardcore popcorn action movie. Whether you are a Terminator fan or not, let go of your expectations, relax your work nerves, and enjoy the visual movie, the effect is still achieved.
