Good idea wasted

The name of this film is very attractive to me, and the poster also makes people feel sad, but after watching the film, I realize that it is far from what I imagined.
There are many movies about the German fascist slaughter of Jews, among which there are many excellent movies, with various angles and styles, so the further back you go, the more difficult it will be to shoot.
In fact, the angle of this film is very good. It seems to be an adaptation of a novel. It talks about a concentration camp in the eyes of a child, but from the beginning to the end, it is rather boring. The problem with the film is that it keeps swaying. Since it is the world in the eyes of children, it is better to make many things more obscure until the truth is finally revealed, but the film uses the mouth and eyes of adults to keep telling the audience. Remind them of things they already understand.
It is obviously a very short film, but it has to add fascist education, background censorship, family conflicts and many other content. The result is just a point. It is no deeper than other films of the same theme, and it has become an unnecessary by-product. This approach also leads to many plots that are too simple to justify. For example, the child runs so far all day, and no one at home finds it. And the mother of the child knew what her husband was probably doing, but suddenly there was a 180-degree change, which was really unreasonable.
That little Jewish boy is cuter and better than the German child, and I hope to see it in future films.

The ending is shocking, and the angle is tricky.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas quotes

  • Herr Liszt: Yes Bruno?

Bruno: I don't understand, the Jew is down to this one man?

Herr Liszt: The Jew here means the entire Jewish race. If it was just this one man I'm sure something would be done about him.

Bruno: There is such thing as a nice Jew isn't there?

Herr Liszt: [Sarcastically] I think Bruno if you ever find a nice Jew, you'd be the best explorer in the world.

  • Father: My work is very important to our country and to you. We're working very hard to make the world better for you.
