Although "City of Sadness" felt very light, but after watching "Flowers on the Sea", his love for Hou Hsiao-hsien reached the extreme, and his interest in him was greatly reduced. This is because I have grown up a lot, and Hou Hsiao-hsien has always been unable to escape the silence and tenderness in his long shots, and the language of the shots has gradually lost its sharpness, as if it has transformed into a blunt symbol.
This time I watched "The Journey of the Red Balloon", which was filmed by Hou Hsiao-hsien in France in 2007. Starring Juliette Binoche, the plot is simple, and I won't repeat it. I think there will be a lot of people talking about these topics: Symbols: Movies in Movies - Song Fang's DV Camera; History: A Tribute to 1956 - The Meeting of Two Red Balloons; Cities: The Walls of Paris - —Paris belonging to the fighting room; Comparative Literature: Changes of the Stage—Yuanqu, Puppet Show, Film; Actors: The Love of Mother and Son—Binoche and the Little Boy...etc.
The above list is not a joke. If I have enough time, I will write a neat film review on these topics. But I have to admit, I still don't like this movie very much, Hou Hsiao-hsien, too Hou Hsiao-hsien. I was only moved by two episodes: one was Binoche talking to her husband Pierre in Canada, and the sad and helpless look on her face made me have to imagine the relationship between her and him What kind of feelings used to be, like-minded, dependent on each other, and now in peace? This idea made me feel as if I had glimpsed a secret that I should not know, which was melancholy and embarrassing; one was the blind tuner, this unremarkable role made the whole film show a delicate balance, like two different worlds the same on both sides of the scale.
Hou Hsiao-hsien may never be able to get rid of the sadness of his native land for life, but once he leaves Taiwan Island, this sadness will appear in a taste of Taipei. Although I have had the opportunity, I have never been to Taipei, although a few friends were there. The location of the film is Paris, but I often feel that it is Taipei, just like Song Fang's character is "an international student from Beijing", but has a standard Taiwanese pronunciation. Every time the piano plays, I suspect that this is Taipei, the Taipei of the impression, and the Taipei of Hou Hsiao-hsien.
That's how I feel about this movie, not a liking, but enjoying it while watching it.
