[Seven Pounds] - Gold and jade outside, broken inside

This movie is quite fooling, and I gave it four stars as soon as I saw it.

Then I took a shower and reminisced, and immediately changed to Samsung after I washed it.

Although the editing and editing are a bit confusing, the narrative is quite bluffing, so much so that I was moved when Ezra and Emily met and smiled, which is the main reason why I gave it four stars in the first place. Other reasons include a just right "Feeling good" substrate, the superb acting skills of the actors and the soft nostalgic lens colors.

But it's not a film that you can savor carefully, because when you do it, it starts to show its flaws.

Tim's own mistake caused a traffic accident that killed seven people, including his beloved wife. Since then, his active life has undergone a 180-degree turn, and guilt and depression have made him think of suicide. But how to repay the debt of seven lives, Tim thought of helping seven people, so that he could go in peace. First of all, such a choice is a bit strange. Helping people and taking human lives are not equal. If doing good deeds can pay off the debts, how simple and simple the social laws will be. It can only be said that Tim is still selfish and arrogant. He thinks that he is the savior of the world and chose such a simple transaction method. In fact, his sins cannot be redeemed, and some are just selfish wishes to reassure himself. The brilliance of humanity projected by the original simple feelings of redemption also naturally dimmed.

Unexpectedly, the creatures make people, and things backfired. In the process of choosing and helping, he met Emily, and even if he died, he fell in love with her. Even if we put aside Tim's current negative and depressed state, the video of his beloved wife repeatedly replayed emphasizes how deep his love for his wife is, and how much he blames himself for the death of his wife, how could he be in a lighthearted mood? love again? Taking a step back, even if Tim hasn't lost his ability to fall in love, what is it about this female patient, Emily, that attracts him? I don't think so. The film doesn't explain or lay out at all. Emily's positive attitude towards life and her nostalgia for life were only shown after they fell in love. In fact, there are many other places like this that make people abrupt.

Tim, for example, apologized to Ezra, saying that the initial frustrating phone call was just to prove he was a good guy. Can a good man prove it so easily? Other than his brother, who Tim wants to help, his choices and proofs have not been clearly explained. "Why me?" That's not just a question from the people he's trying to help, it's a question the wider audience wants to ask. Moreover, if it is just to test whether the other party is a good person, do you need to be furious and have a hysterical performance after hanging up the phone? There is also a video that mentions that the child whose bone marrow is donated has a very special blood type, so it is estimated that Tim and the people he wants to help, except for the one mother and two children who get the house, are all of this blood type, plus With their own rejection, the chances of them all being rescued are really ultra-low probability events, and they all got together in such a short period of time, which is too surreal.

As mentioned above, many places are arranged very abruptly and far-fetched, and there are also many self-contradictions of slapping their own ears.

Let's talk about Tim's suicide method that everyone discussed more after watching the film. Many people wonder whether body organs can still be used for transplantation after the toxin of jellyfish kills them. This is a problem. Many people also think that there are thousands of ways to commit suicide. There is no need to use such a gimmicky method. The main thing is that it has no meaning except for the form, and even a lot of logical criticism. Besides, even if the jellyfish's toxin is a neurotoxin that directly affects the respiratory center and causes suffocation and death, and will not affect other internal organs, the performance in this section does not look like central suffocation, but rather like suffocation from peripheral paralysis.

Finally, the meeting between Emily and Ezra moved me initially. But when I look back and think about it, two people who never knew each other hugged each other and cried because they had organs derived from the same person. It's really pale to think about. Originally, this time should be the moment when Tim's human brilliance is reflected and infinitely magnified, but then I always think that this redemption is not simple, and I feel that this emotion has changed, which is strange.

And the meaning of seven pounds explained in the introduction of the film is the weight of each of the seven organs, but there are only six organs and a house in the play. Is that house also a pound?

Compared with the [21 grams] five years ago, this [seven pounds] is a lot worse in every aspect, which is a pity for so many excellent actors. I was surprised, everyone is weight, why is there such a big difference?

A movie that looks logical on the outside, but it is messy and illogical. When you peel off the golden appearance, you will see a bunch of film methods that have been borrowed from everywhere. To put it uglier, it is the face of horse shit.

However, for the great acting, "Feeling Good" and the original touch, I still give it three stars.

  • Ezra Turner: [Last lines] You must be Emily. It's so nice to meet you.

  • Ben Thomas: The first time I ever saw a box jellyfish, I was twelve. Our father took us to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I never forgot what he said... That it was the most deadly creature on earth. To me it was just the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
