The Lost Panther of Kilimanjaro

I watched "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" again and again, and the first time I didn't have enough of it, I felt more emotional.

There is a memorable riddle in the film: On Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, there is a leopard's body in the snow. What is it looking for?

It's a mystery no one can solve, because every leopard has a variety of options. The crux of the question is why did the leopard appear on the snowy mountains? Should it be chasing the prey that cost it its life?

Maybe every leopard has been lost before. In fact, being lost is not scary. What is scary is that after stepping into a snowy area that should not be set foot in, there is no judgment to return from the lost. Leopards have a chasing nature and are strong in the animal kingdom, but there are also forbidden places in nature. Going one step further will bring you closer to the prey, and you will also face more risks. Chasing for survival, but ignoring the life that should be guarded the most along the way. In the snowy area, should we move forward or go back to the forest? This is a question that is often weighed, and the answer is uncertain.

I have always suspected the mystery of the leopard corpse in the snow-capped mountains. Watching "Animal World" since I was a child, those ferocious food animals don't seem to be chasing their prey to the point of desperation. One of their instinctual wisdom is to know when to stop chasing and find a new target. It may only be people who insist on going their own way. There are snow-capped mountains in everyone's world that are easy to get lost in. There are thousands of snow-capped mountains, some are called old feelings and new worries, some are called laziness, some may be inferior, and some are conceited and so on. We are surrounded by it, and it is inevitable that we will not stray into it. When the biting cold hit, I hope we have enough courage to support us decisively back to the forest.

Is this Hemingway's autobiography? The script is good, and the director and actors are much more relaxed. His favorite wife is so extravagant! Parker was pretty strong at this time.

I fast forward just to see Hildegard Knef.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro quotes

  • Harry Street: [narrating] I suppose it was the elusiveness of Liz which was her main attraction. She was something to hunt down and trap and capture. The Countess Elizabeth - Frigid Liz - the semi-iceerg from the semi-tropics!

  • Dr. Simmons: [referring to Cynthia's miscarriage] Do you actually mean you didn't know about the child? Don't you people talk to each other?
