she's a legend

This Miss Potter is Beatrix Potter (1866.7-1943.12), the author of Peter Rabbit. She was born in the upper class and liked painting and animals and plants since she was a child, so she painted animals and plants. Yun Ying, who is in her 30s and unmarried, fell in love with the publisher while publishing her own book. Unfortunately, before getting married, the lover died of illness. She left London and used her growing royalties to buy a farmstead, where she healed. She loves nature. Seeing that many farms were bought by capitalist developers for other purposes, she developed a hobby of buying farms. Buy a farm and let the farmers keep farming. She protected large tracts of land, which were later donated to British authorities, and remain in their original state to this day.

She is a true legend. Ahead of the times, ideas and creations are so fresh and powerful today. Peter Rabbit is one of the earliest picture books. Any book about picture books cannot fail to introduce Peter Rabbit. I have a copy of Peng Yi's "Picture Book Reading and Classics" on hand. In the "Classics" volume, the first one is Peter Rabbit.

The painting style of "Peter Rabbit" is very delicate and elegant, the colors are not gorgeous, and the lines are also very simple. The small animals are depicted so vividly that they almost jump out of the painting, because the author has observed them meticulously since he was a child and loves them. Potter was a keen artist, her paintings were never large, but her brushwork was extremely accurate and her imagination was mischievous. There are no gorgeous rhetoric in her stories, but they are spoken in children's language, almost comparable to our Feng Zikai.

Perhaps because she is an artist and has a different Qiu He in her chest, she was able to continue to create after losing her lover, and gradually got out of the pain, and even married her lawyer when she was nearly half a century old. (She seems to be prone to falling in love at work. Today, it is an office romance.) In her later years, she seldom painted, and her interests shifted to running farms and raising sheep.

Beatrix Potter is talented and hardworking; she is also tough and balanced. She loves nature and does her best to protect it; she sticks to her ideas (in love with publishers and lawyers) and doesn't compromise with the society of the time, yet she does it right and doesn't let conflict hurt herself. Such a woman, what movie can perform perfectly? Which actor can perform well?

Renée Zellweger's performance is not good enough. Maybe because of her British accent, she's been more nervous than Ewan MaGregor and Emily Watson. The latter two are fake British, of course they have an advantage. Ewan is gentle and humorous, but the character itself has no depth. Later, he died for no apparent reason, which was so heartbreaking that he cried to death. Emily Watson's look is a bit ridiculous and doesn't have much room to play.

The scenery in the film is very beautiful, and it was shot on Beatrix's farm. The tone is still good, but not worthy of the wonderful life of the real Beatrix Potter.

  • Rupert Potter: Our daughter is famous, Helen. You're the only person who doesn't know it.

  • Beatrix Potter: [voiceover] There's something delicious about writing those first few words of a story. You can never quite tell where they will take you. Mine took me here, where I belong.
