Homosexuality and Vampires

Interview with the Vampire (Interview with the Vampire) was directed by Neil Jordan in 1994. Its screenwriter was Anne Rice, the author of the original novel. She interprets the tragic fate of the vampire family with the delicate and sentimental characteristics of women. I think the uniqueness of this film is to knead the homosexual theme with the inner struggle between good and evil in vampires. It uses the analogy of the guilt of homosexuals and the guilt of vampires when they harm living beings. It points out that the two share the same The unavoidable tragedy. In the play, Lestat played by Tom Cruise and Armand played by Antonio Banderas both love Brat Pitt (Louis), they are obsessed with his innocence, his compassion, and this humanitarian spirit is theirs Lost, or more precisely-missed.

Vampire movies are an outlier in the history of movies. Since Bram Stroker wrote the novel Dracula in 1897, the black theme of vampires has deeply attracted generations of directors.

The prototype of a vampire should be the devil in the Bible. In Coppola’s Four Hundred Years of Vampire Fright (Dracula 1994), Count Dracula said: “I used my life to defend the church, but I was rewarded like this... From then on I will use the power of darkness and I will drink blood. Born." Vampires have a series of typical characteristics of the devil, such as evil but extremely tempting, wisdom but deviant, fragile but powerful. The rebellious consciousness experienced by human beings during their adolescence was overwhelmed by mainstream values, but vampires reproduced this consciousness again dramatically, reflecting an "evil" self.

"Immortality" is another paradox of the characteristics of vampires. Humans search for the art of immortality in vain, but vampires can easily have it, but the price is high. Evil can't die, and the only way to survive is to continue to kill lives. The vampires also fell into the trap of "immortality". The world changes in front of them, time passes, and others are no longer glamorous, but they will not change. Gradually, the wisdom becomes a burden, in exchange for fear of infinity. Slowly, after becoming numb to the transformation of time and space, the term "Zeitgeist" no longer makes sense to them. In "Interview with the Vampire", Armand said to Louis: You are an immortal but have a human soul... You reflect this era. You are my link to the outside world.

I guess that the reason why this film is so highly rated is that it is possible that some bean friends have given good reviews because they starred in the two handsome men? But I really don't like their vampire looks, especially Uncle Tom's, how strange it looks. The whole story was unremarkable and didn't interest me much. The vampires in the film seem to have no settings for superb special skills except for sucking blood. Is it weak? So many vampires died a bit unreliable, right?
