nobody can save us

"21 Grams", the second film I watched by Agado Gonzalez Inarido, was of course "Babel" and "Love is a bitch".
It turns out that playing the puzzles well is also helpful for watching movies. The way the director speaks the story is really characteristic, three paragraphs, intricate flashbacks, you have to lift your heart to memorize every detail carefully, and then keep making an expression of sudden realization in the process of watching. Standard "Illador" technique.

A traffic accident brought three families into an irreversible tragic situation.
Paul, a math professor at a university, suffers from a serious heart disease. Standing behind the gates of hell, he unexpectedly escaped death. A successful transplant brought him back to life, but his relationship with his wife could not be saved;
Jack, a former alcoholic and criminal, rebuilds his life with the help and guidance of a pastor, becoming not only a teenage counselor, but also a good, honest and kind father, but his wife sometimes secretly wishes he would keep A little past character. In fact, Jack is trapped by a heavy mental burden, full of guilt, and it seems that there is no hope and redemption possible;
Christine, who used to be addicted to drugs and parties, after a catastrophic event, she rehabilitates, Life takes a terrible turn. She retreats into the past and rejects the future.

Jack's story is directly related to religion. The words of the priest of the community church are too provocative, and it is easy to see the hidden dangers buried in the preaching. From Jack's actions, it's easy to see what kind of chaotic, depraved and guilty life he lived before, but can such a blind conversion to religion really resolve the remorse? His younger brother didn't believe it, his wife didn't believe it, and neither would his children. When that person hits you on the left cheek, he even hits him on the right cheek. Simple behavior demonstrations cannot express the original meaning contained in the Bible. How can a small child understand the deep meaning behind the behavior. The responsibility of the family and the responsibility of the society have created a contradiction in such a "sinner". Surrendering himself will bring incomparable hardships to his family, and he will not be able to face his inner voice of repentance if he is free from the law. Part of the quarrel between Jack and the priest in prison is an extreme example of religious inconsistency. God is powerless.
The two families, Christina and Paul, are even closer. Paul lives on after receiving a heart transplant from her dead Christina husband, but falls in love with the deceased's wife while searching for the owner of the organ. A car accident takes one person's life and at the same time gives another a chance to regenerate. The duality of things is exceptionally sharp and clear here.
In the hospital, the scene where Laura sits and waits for surgery is impressive. Life and death pass by, hope and despair coexist. The discussion of life is more apparent here. For the time being, I think that the one who fell in love with Christina is Paul's body, but who is the one who wants to seek revenge on Jack? The life of one person and two people continued, and Paul's life pressure was particularly clear when he vomited.
Children are an important part of the film. That is the continuation of life. Laura gave up everything to give birth to Paul's child, hoping to rely on a complete pregnancy to maintain the relationship between the two; Jack is a pair of children at the center of the family's responsibility, and the discipline at the dinner table is good, nothing more than It is to let them avoid their previous lives, but when the daughter asks if her father killed someone, Jack should realize that God is powerless here; the death of her husband, especially her daughters, has completely hit Christina and lost her. The focus of life makes her uncontrollable depression, but her pregnancy at the end of the film is a hopeful ending, Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man.

Redemption, is it all about redemption in the end? All I can say is, don't expect redemption.
Jack's wife is right, life has to go on, with or without God.
In fact, all the stress and guilt of existence comes from within itself, and nothing outside can constitute redemption. This is hell. Right here. You're damning your soul. Heaven and hell are in your heart, and so is God. Whether Paul wanted to take revenge by shooting Jack, or Jack's repeated begging for death, or Christina's escapism and indulgence, nothing could bring salvation and only make life more difficult.
The film "returns to the roots of human suffering and new life", showing how people overcome suffering, about grief, loss, remorse, redemption, sacrifice, and God's infinite love. In my opinion, all the so-called "suffering" comes from the weight of a person's soul, which is equivalent to the weight of 5 copper plates, the weight of a hummingbird, and the weight of a bar of chocolate.
