The title cement garden literally translates into cement garden. The children live in the heart of the industrial wasteland, inside the massive ruins brought by the bulldozers, and the school scene is brushed over. Father and mother died one after another, and the children did not want to be sent to foster care as orphans, so their mother's body was poured in a concrete iron box. Since then, they have been virtually isolated from the world. There have been many people who have praised or criticized the incest of the siblings in this movie before, but I think the central problem is that these children are stabbed by this disorganized and lonely and deformed growth fragment no matter what.
After her parents died, Julie took over the role of mother and became the cries of the younger children. Su confided everything in her diary, and the youngest son, Tom, dreamed of being a girl. Adolescent Jack masturbates in the mirror, longing for his sister in a dreamy day. There is not much plot. At the end of the film, Julie hugs Jack. The rich boyfriend who didn't get her body yelled at him, but Julie looked at him mockingly.
Playing Julie Girls also had a role in "21 Grams", but it didn't impress me enough, presumably the mysterious expression in her garden has been exhausted. In any case, this film has a power that makes people feel calm and peaceful to face death, to face desire, to the weirdness of life. Because their existence is taken for granted, and there is no need for you or me to worry about them.
