Back to the movie itself, it can be summed up with a quote from Rocky: But until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life.
Here is the full text of Rocky's quote:
"You are not gonna believe this. For you used to fit right here and your mother said, This kid is gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid gonna be somebody better than anybody ever knew. And you grew up good and wonderful, its great watching everyday like a priviledge. Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on your own world and you did.
But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stop being you and you let other people stick their fingers on your face until you are no good. And when things got hard, you start looking for something to blame, like a big shadow.
Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't no sunshines and rainbows, it's a very mean and nasty place and i dont care how tough you are, it will beat you to your kness and keep it permanently if you let it . you, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it aint about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward, how much you can take and keep moving forward.
That's how winning is done.
If you know what you're worth, and go get what you worth, but you gotta be willing to take the hits. Not pointing fingers and say you ain't what you wanna be because of him or her or anybody.
Cowards do that, and that ain't you! you better than that.
But until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life."
