A Civil Action

The movie had been on the computer for nearly two years, and it seemed like the first time watching it in a complete, undisturbed environment. The mood is very complicated. If it weren't for the playful music of take me to the river, drop me to the water and the clean sound of running water and birds at the end of the film, it should be said to be heavy now.
This is not a happy ending that people look forward to, although as a legal film, its final theme is nothing more than the demonstration of fairness and justice, and it still makes people who watch it unable to let go. Pushing a young lawyer who was rated as one of Boston's top ten, drives the latest Porsche sports car, and has a great record, pushed him to the point where he was in debt and was abandoned by his partners, facing "what do you use to prove your quality of life?" Such a mockery Cross-examination, does a smile from the heart cover everything? Jan's partner said, from the moment you put the money on the client's table, things get ugly, It happensds everytime! Is it? This happens every time, could a lawyer give up everything just for the peace of mind this time? Moreover, is this civil lawyer's inherent understanding of professional value fairness and justice, or is it the settlement of disputes? When they pick and choose the source of the case at the beginning, the answer is self-evident. How unreal it is for a person to suddenly change their soul. Maybe this suspicion isn't good enough, but I'm really, really more likely to believe that the lawyer was pushed to the brink by his own inappropriate litigation tactics than moved to desperation by the cry of the child's mother.

But, no matter what, the second-instance judgment and Jan's smile, which made the clouds open to see the sunrise, still gave people some strength.

The movie is based on the book of the same name, and seeing a book review, it seems that the original is more objective and realistic. From:

Kevin Conway: You always went your separate way, Jan.

  • Jan Schlichtmann: [disappointed, after Beatrice has been found not guilty in the first stage of the trial, to Anne Anderson, quickly walking past Richard Aufiero, sitting in the back of the courtroom, as Jan leaves the courtroom] Don't worry about it, everything's under control.
