Classic review

It's not the first time I watched the movie "Training Day". The last time I watched it was in junior high school, but it was a castrated version. The last time I watched the movie, I kept the impression that Jack shot and killed Alorzo, and also deleted the plot of the Russian gang, so the experience of this re-watching is quite good.

The movie "Training Day" itself is a classic crime film, and the nominations and awards for important awards such as the Oscar Golden Globe are the affirmation of the film. In the movie, Denzel Washington, the anti-narcotics policeman Alorzo, is an experienced, black-and-white detective. He learned some basic rules and knowledge in contact with drug dealers and gangs. In the first half, Alorzo always gave me a sense of being a person who is both righteous and evil. The first thing that came to mind when seeing a girl raped by poisonous insects was to snatch drugs and dollars. Forcing Jack to take drugs and oppressing the gang with his power, it also taught Jack the way to survive. The second half broke my mind. From the beginning, I didn't think about accepting Jack, but only thought about how to use the newcomers. He has been oppressing with violence, and when he is defeated by the rookie Jack, the self-eating gangs no longer protect him.

It is difficult to distinguish between right and evil in the movie. The detective should protect the informant, but the informant is the biggest drug lord. The informant is like collecting money for the police, and after fattening the police, he just gives up. The police caught the criminal, but the criminal seized the loopholes in the criminal law to get rid of the crime. The police only had to break the law to deal with the criminal. This is also a place worthy of reflection in the film, which is more like showing the chaos in the society to the society in the form of light and shadow.

A film that has been praised. In fact, the transfer of every key point does not have sufficient logic. It's just that the two protagonists use their acting skills to eliminate the audience's speculation and recognition of the possibility of other choices of character behavior.

Police and gangster films are always inseparable from black and white. This is the pinnacle of gangster films. The whirlpool of desire always pulls people into it. Washington deserves an Oscar, and the supporting actor is brilliant.

Training Day quotes

  • Doug Rosselli: [telling Alonzo a story in a steakhouse restaurant with Lou, and Stan present] There's a serial burglar we're chasing him for twelve months, a real slickster and he gave up nothing. His sentencing was today so before the hearing he gets a hold of some peanut butter and he packs his ass crack with it, he's standing tall before the judge and he's ready to give a statement, he shoves his hand down his pants and it comes out with a glob of extra chunky Jiff, bailiffs won't come near him. Now he's looking at the judge in the eyes and licks his fingers clean, so the judge says "this poor man is insane, he can't go to prison", orders him to get a psychiatric evaluation and by the time the judge found out it was sandwich spread, the order was already signed and the guy had already been transferred, after six months in the puzzle factory they call him "normal" and let him loose, he'll never do a day in prison. One day I'm going to find this guy on the street and I'm going to kill him.

  • Alonzo Harris: [repeated line to several people on different occasions] You wanna go to jail or you wanna go home?
