Writing film reviews is not an easy task, because I have read many personal film reviews. Retelling the content of the film and television series will make people who watch carefully feel unnecessary, and let friends who have not watched it be spoiled in advance; quoting classic sentences in the film and television series, more or less let people know that this work will probably What to say, but without the context, setting, and storyline of the sentence, it is difficult to convey the true meaning of the sentence to the unwatched; simple and beautiful words come from ordinary people and are really flimsy. Even people in the industry have to listen carefully, whether it is an act of support and whether there is a relationship of interest; and the digging of the story behind the film and television drama will probably be interesting and can help the viewer to understand more. Way, but it’s hard to call it a movie review.
Therefore, writing a film review is not an easy task, and it is not easy to come from a rigorous attitude in order to better examine a work. And willing to do such a difficult thing, there must be something fascinating.
Baltimore City is located in the northeast of Washington, more than 60 kilometers away from Washington, near Chesapeake Bay. The crime rate has remained high over the years, with problems such as drugs and violence. Baltimore is the city where the story in the wire takes place. The wire reveals the realistic images of Baltimore for the audience, including police, drug dealers, homeless, courts, governments, ports, middle schools, paper media, etc. In the trance, I even developed feelings for such a chaotic city, and this feeling stems from the flesh and blood of Baltimore-the various characters in the play, the characters outside the play.
David Simon, the lead creator of The Wire , has worked in the Baltimore Sun for twelve years. He teamed up with Ed Burns, who worked in the police station, to complete the main script drawing. Their work experience is destined to have a broad and profound understanding of Baltimore's characters and stories. They live and work here. They are happy and painful. Their feelings for Baltimore are deep. This deep feeling is true for the characters they have seen before, for the characters in their writings, and for them in the play. The same is true for the characters that are shaped. They are by no means sitting in a remote place and dreaming about the story of the distant Baltimore; they have turned up the typical characters and stories that represent Baltimore in their memory, and then let these characters and stories tell us about the city and the city of Baltimore. American game the game.
Nearly a hundred human images are created in the play. These various characters belonging to different spheres of influence are engaged in struggles between various forces on the one hand for their own ideas and interests in the urban environment of Baltimore, and on the other hand, their respective forces are complicated. The internal struggles and criss-crossed struggles are conducted layer by layer, with checks and balances, until they erupt. The struggle stems from contradictions, the contradictions of the characters themselves, the contradictions within the forces, and the contradictions within the city of Baltimore. In the complexity, structure, and system of these contradictions, the authenticity of Baltimore is born, with natural authenticity.
Contradiction 1: Choice is a dilemma, and the result is elusive.
Individuals living in Baltimore, due to the city's own difficulties, the choices faced by individuals have more distinct game characteristics than the choices faced by individuals in other cities. The results of various choices under complex constraints have different performances and multiple levels of criticism. The sense of urgency brought by the whole body is lost in the final complex thinking. The drama contained in a coincidence and a book suddenly disappears in the deconstruction of reality, making people feel irrefutable and lonely, and after careful tasting, a deeper taste and reverie spread in the thinking, constantly returning.
Contradiction 2: The sailing ship cannot easily turn around, and tragedy is born.
With the continuous superposition of the plot, the complex structure gradually formed, and the systematic imbalance of the institutional environment of the big city was fully reflected. All people who want to improve, change and reform will be under pressure from the system. Individuals can only face being squeezed out or becoming part of an unbalanced system without the cohesive power to fight against the system. These two types of failures choose. A doomed failure and a doomed tragedy are like moths to the fire, but these characters go on and on, and a sorrowful force permeates the play, both sober and true. This tragedy power is the core issue of the tragedy, and it is the faint flames of human nature swaying. Fireworks, fireworks, moment after moment become eternal flames.
Authenticity: The American, The Game
I have a very deep attachment to the authenticity of the story. This obsession stems from the fact that I will feel deceived for unreal works. My so-called authenticity does not refer to reality. The romance of martial arts and the wonderful vastness of science fiction, everything that is divorced from reality can have authenticity. The reality is true because reality is always in nature. Humans can abstract the essence of nature from reality—philosophy, a kind of rule and law.
TV drama the wire in a creative and a servant beings, who Baltimore longer than the servant constructed. "Why do I always have tears in my eyes? Because..." The feelings can be love, hate, or pain, or strong or weak, but they can never give up. Those who are deeply affectionate for Baltimore have given us the truest side of Baltimore through the wire .
Baltimore's harsh urban environment has produced a large number of people who have no choice. Because there is no choice, they cannot shrink back; because there is no choice, they become part of the evil; because there is no choice, they have a clearer and clearer understanding of the United States they face—The American, the "game" they face —The game. No one can break the ubiquitous fuzzy rules.
Rules are like shackles that shack everyone, and everyone is like death row prisoners, dancing wildly until death.
When I was writing, the characters in the play flashed through my mind one by one, and I said goodbye to them and Baltimore one by one.
