When idols born in the 1980s are all pink and slick faces, I recalled that I had an occasional encounter with Bruce Lee when I was a child.
Before I went to school, I read a little book called "Kowloon Beach". Now I suspect it should be "Kowloon Pond". In that book, Bruce Lee's eldest disciple learned of the death of his master and came back from the United States to investigate, and finally found out that Bruce Lee Murdered by drug... The
plot is very bizarre and moving, and it is an out-and-out folk legend.
This film is not. The film shows that it is based on Linda's "Bruce Bruce Biography", and Linda also made an introduction and ending narration. In this film, the director has added many Chinese superstitions. , and finally explained the mystery of Bruce Lee's death with superstition theory and Western psychoanalytic theory. The 127-minute movie took 7 minutes to span Bruce Lee's most confusing last two years, which can be described as anticlimactic.
But the whole movie is very good.
When I bought it, I thought it was a documentary, but I didn't expect it to be a movie with a plot and dialogue.
After watching this movie, you can understand that Bruce Lee has made great contributions to the Chinese, especially overseas Chinese. Wang Xiaobo still remembers when he wrote about his memories of studying abroad. In the eyes of foreigners, especially Lao Mei, all Chinese are like Bruce Lee. Knowing kung fu and playing, these are all the fame that Bruce Lee made. When Lin Yanni recalled Bruce Lee, she also said that in the United States at that time, everyone turned to him when they had anything.
This was not the case when Bruce Lee first arrived in the United States. In the United States, which is known as "freedom and equality", Chinese people are subjected to ubiquitous and unreasonable discrimination.
Under the background of superstition, Bruce Lee went to the United States, spoke English since he was a child, and named him Zhenfan, all to ward off evil spirits.
Li's father dreamed that the devil would take away his son, and a man had died before him, so he used so many illusions to deceive the devil, and even sent Bruce Lee to the United States.
But the opportunity for him to leave was a hero to save the United States. At a private dance, Bruce Lee subdued a few unreasonable British sailors. In order to avoid the investigation of the British Hong Kong government, Li's father took out his birth certificate and entangled him. In the United States, it turns out that he was born in the United States and belongs to the United States.
Like all Chinese who first arrived in the United States, Bruce Lee washed dishes in a Chinatown restaurant. Just like the plot of many martial arts films, where the knight goes, the trouble also follows. The waitress is particularly fond of the handsome and fit-looking Bruce Lee, which has aroused many chefs. Dissatisfied, another good fight, and then the proprietress fired him, paid him two weeks' salary and severance and advised him to study.
When Bruce Lee first arrived at the university, the Chinese were still discriminated against. After he taught a few white classmates in the gym, he began to teach wrestling, and because of this, he met his future wife, Linda.
The white classmate said viciously when provoked: My father was beaten to death by the Chinese in North Korea. . .
After Bruce Lee dealt with the four of them, he patted them and said, I am very sorry for your father's death, but it was done by Koreans, and I am an American.
Many times since then, Bruce Lee has claimed: I am an American, and he also said the same when he first met his girlfriend's mother. The old lady said:
No, you are American Cityzen, Not American (you just have American citizenship, not American People)
Bruce Lee, Bruce Lee, rushed out of the house and walked away -- and took Linda, who betrayed the family.
In Bruce Lee's mind, the "American Dream" was very idealized. During the Cold War, when the two camps were competing to export values, Bruce Lee took it for granted that the United States was a paradise where everyone could realize their dreams—many people still think that way.
When he came to the United States, he encountered many obstacles and was discriminated against by white people many times. To rectify the name of the Chinese and re-establish his image became Bruce Lee's lifelong knot. He did not protest by organizing rallies and parades like today's young international students. Bruce Lee I firmly believe that Chinese culture will surely convince foreigners---the reason why they have not been convinced is because foreigners lack understanding of Chinese culture. Seeing this, no one will understand Bruce Lee as a "hero of fine martial arts". In fact, in addition to his love of kung fu, Bruce Lee also loves reading and thinking. He studied philosophy at university.
Interestingly, in the end, Bruce Lee government to the Americans, but the biggest blow came from the Chinese.
The first
time he fought hard in the kitchen, and it was a Chinese chef who took the blame . That was a small twist. The second time he opened a martial arts hall to teach, he received a "Hero Post" saying that Chinese Kung Fu is not allowed to be passed on to foreigners---white people and Black, young and energetic Bruce Lee took the post and went to the old rivers and lakes to discuss the theory, and talked to them with great confidence and confidence: to promote Chinese culture, the old guys said in mahjong, if you are not obedient, you can only solve it by martial arts.
Bruce Lee went to the competition without his wife's knowledge, won with his excellent kung fu, and then was conspiratorial and nearly died - the so-called Chinese knight, but that's it.
He was paralyzed by his opponent's plot, and Bruce Lee was disheartened in the hospital. With the encouragement of his wife, he wrote the only book and invented "Jet Kune Do".
It was the first time that Bruce Lee invited Linda to go to the movies. In "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in the movie theater, the Chinese had a wretched image and ugly faces in the movie. When they appeared, they were unlucky. The audience laughed and Bruce Lee was very sad- ---But this is by no means the mentality of an "angry youth". He didn't say anything, and silently got up and left the theater.
Later, Bruce Lee used many movies to re-establish the image of the Chinese in the movies.
After being deceived by the producer in Hollywood, he received the news of his father's death and rushed back to Hong Kong for the funeral, where he reached the peak of his career! After the premiere of "Big Brother Tangshan", he was surrounded by thousands of people and left the theater.
Later, because of family relations, he went to the United States again, and the film ended here hastily, without mentioning his bizarre death at all, and summed up his life sadly and proudly.
Bruce Lee was born in the United States, but he became the spokesperson of the Chinese people in the United States, and the biggest trauma he suffered came from his compatriots. This dramatic story is really thought-provoking.
