Black holes are good, but don't wear them indiscriminately

I think there are two most important things about watching sci-fi movies. One is that the concept of sci-fi should be novel, and the other is that the story should be attractive in this sci-fi setting. This movie has achieved both.

The setting of the movie is that humans created a wormhole and explored it. The result was an accident. It went to another dimension and brought back creatures from another dimension. The background of the story is very interesting. On the basis of this background The story goes deeper and deeper, gradually uncovering the truth behind this mission. Some of the scary pictures shown at the end, although deleted, can still feel the terrifying side of creatures in another dimension, and also convey that wormholes not only It can take humans through the universe, and it may also bring fear.

The sci-fi concept setting is novel, and the story is revealed layer by layer, which is fascinating. It is indeed a very good sci-fi film.

PS: There are a lot of bloody pictures, be careful

It was supposed to be a blockbuster, the hell in space, but it didn't feel like hell

When I saw half of it, I thought it would be a space version of the ghost ship, but the more I go down the plot, the more mentally retarded. Dressed in the cloak of hard science fiction, it is actually a magical movie. This broken ship likes to kill people so much and then bring them to hell, why not just drive to the vicinity of the earth and let more people into the pit? Or just open the door of hell on the earth and it will be over? This film implies that the spacecraft has its own thoughts and consciousness when it travels through different worlds. It is troublesome to take the director and the screenwriter several times to fill up the brain and increase the IQ.

Event Horizon quotes

  • Dr. Weir: You can't leave. She won't let you.

  • D.J.: I wasn't going to tell you this. I've been listening to the distress signal, and I, um, think I made a mistake in the translation.

    [Plays the distress signal]

    Miller: Go on.

D.J.: I thought it said "liberate me" - "save me." But it's not "me." It's "liberate tutemet" - "save yourself." And it gets worse.

    [Plays the distress signal again]

D.J.: There - I think that says "ex inferis." "Save yourself... from Hell." Look, if what Doctor Weir tells us is true, this ship has been beyond the boundaries of our universe, of known scientific reality. Who knows where it's been, what it's seen... or what it's brought back with it?

Miller: From Hell? You don't believe in that kind of stuff, do you?

D.J.: Whoever sent that message, he sure believed in Hell.
