Violent aesthetics wrapped in anti-racism

As a horror film, the theme of Surprisingly is so simple and straightforward, hahaha, the story is not bad, the logic is rigorous, and the foreshadowing is reasonable, but unfortunately the horror part is stopped after the point, not long enough. The theme is quite interesting. Candy man is the embodiment of the violent resistance of black people under oppression. The images of bees and candies are not too get, but the use of mirrors is very clever. The film presents an upside-down world view through mirroring. In the middle, candy man is an evil criminal, and under this, black people are the victims of violence, and candy man has become a "messenger of justice". This movie is a bit overdone, the police are all white, and the dead are all arrogant white people, so this is the only horror movie I've seen that doesn't make me terrified, because only white people die haha . The ending is quite poetic and not scary at all. The rebirth/inheritance of Candy man, the love between the heroine and the hero for each other, all dilute the sense of despair that the traditional horror films have a clear distinction between good and evil.
