"It" is an evil spirit lurking in the dark. Once targeted "it" will follow you until killed. You can infect others by having sex with others, but you can't get rid of it completely. For example, if the heroine Jie is infected by her boyfriend, the evil spirit will follow Jie first. But Jie and her boyfriend can see it. If Jie is killed by it, the evil spirit will continue to follow her boyfriend. This evil spirit cannot be seen by others, only those who are targeted by the evil spirit can see it. The evil spirit will be attacked by the outside world. It does not speak and will go straight to the person being targeted to attack. Although the speed is slow, it is not stupid. It's like the last few people want Jie to lead it into the swimming pool and be electrocuted by it. Fortunately, the teammates are also smart, and finally headshot the evil spirit in the pool. At first I thought this evil spirit would never die. It turned out to be killable.
But at the end of the movie, Jie and Paul walked hand in hand with someone walking behind them. According to Jie's boyfriend before, it only has one. So whether it was walking behind them or just a passer-by left doubts.
