no problem, whatever

As the pioneering work of the new realism genre of film, the plot of "Rome, Undefended City" is actually not complicated. It is very similar to those revolutionary movies in our country in the early days of liberation, especially the paragraph at the end of ambush and sacrifice, of course, because that is a classic that was used as a classic of such movies by the vast number of revolutionary movies in our country for reference.
But this movie really changed my view of Italians in a big way. Previously, I always felt that the people of this country or nation were a group of opportunists who advocated enjoyment, and the outstanding representative of them was Inzaghi, I Khan! In my impression, Rome is a city full of food, sex, and desire. The Romans are lazy and casual, shrewd and cunning, and extremely love to enjoy! However, what the film presented to me is by no means such a fact. This is a city with grace, courage, elegance and strength. The steadfast and enthusiastic Pina, the brave and determined underground party, the noble and unyielding priest, and the children who hold the editor's hope, these people are the soul of this city!
However, there are still some remnants of old impressions, such as Marina who betrayed love, Pina's sister who is righteous, and Italians who served the German army, etc. In fact, I don't want to condemn them, everyone has their own values.
Sometimes I find it scary to emphasize patriotism, or nationalism. What is "master-race" and "slave-race", this is the evil result, in fact, the same is true of World War II. Maybe I say this because it's none of my business, we haven't been in war, we don't know what it was like, we don't know the desperation at that time, so I don't think "patriotism" is useful.
However, from another perspective, the country is actually just an ideology. We are born in whatever country we are born in, and then we must be patriotic. This is actually unreasonable. Elena in Ignorance feels the same way. Krishna said, we should get rid of all shackles and seek the light of humanity from ourselves. Only in this way can we truly fundamentally change society!
I think that's it, trust people enough, don't need everyone to manage people, it's not anarchism. Although I do not believe in "states" and "governments", I do believe they must end!
It's just a random thought, so it's a bit messy!

Rome, Open City quotes

  • Pina: I've led a bad life. I've done so much I shouldn't have. You think I'm not ashamed to be married in my condition? But you'd never understand. There are things you do without thinking, that you don't feel like you're doing wrong. I was so in love and he was so good, so decent. I know he could have found someone better, a young girl, not a penniless widow with a child who had to sell everything just to get by. And life just keeps getting harder. How will will we ever forget all this suffering, anxiety and fear?

  • Pina: Doesn't Christ see us?

Don Pietro: So many people ask me that: "Doesn't Christ see us?" But are we sure we haven't deserved this scourge? Are we sure we've always lived according to the Lord's laws? People never think of changing their ways, but when the piper must be paid, they despair and ask, "Doesn't the Lord see us? Doesn't he take pity on us?" Yes, he does, but we have so much to be forgiven for, and for that we must pray and forgive many things.

Pina: You're right, but how do we forgive? I see those guys and I want to smash their faces in.
