I wanted to watch a movie recently, and then I got it, and I didn't have any expectations. I just watched a movie just to watch a movie.
And when I watched this bland biographical film quietly and earnestly, it really made me want to watch it a second time. The fragments of the whole movie in my mind are: bland, ego.
In terms of my not long and not rich life experience, I am not a person who understands a lot of philosophy of life, but some excerpts of Dickinson's poems interspersed in the film made me shocked after listening. The ego is a wonderful thing. People are always swayed by things outside themselves and worry about the opinions and words of others. But the self exists, it is worth thinking about, but it is difficult to be independent and difficult to maintain. Dickinson could not give up, she asked: "Why the world become ugly?" A pure soul is independent, lonely, and feared by the world as "weird". When praying, everyone knelt down and told Dickinson that She wanted to pull her to kneel with her, but she was unwilling. Some people might say that this was blasphemy, but she didn't believe in gods at all, so how could blasphemy come from? As she said, she didn't think she was guilty, how could she repent to the gods?
The pursuit of self is a long and unusual road. She is not a momentary, crazy poetess, she is also a smart daughter who is loved by her father, a good daughter who takes good care of her sick mother, she examines herself in the life she loves, she writes those poems with her own life, some Later generations said that the poor her later life was plagued by diseases because she had leaked the secret. Yes, the poems she writes are full of the breath of life, and every sentence contains philosophy. But she did not believe in gods, and wrote in her poems that death is just a new beginning, that is liberation. She is not a pessimistic bystander. She lives her life bravely and chooses to write poetry. With the consent of her father, she faces the dark night that inspires her alone. Choosing loneliness, she faced the darkness alone.
In the dull and quiet life, in the lonely black night, she used ink to write poems full of her lifelong passion. Like the title, Serene Passion.
