HBO & HBO Max launched the historical thriller "Oslo", written by JT Rogers and directed by Bartlett Sher, adapted from the Tony Award stage play of the same name by the two of them, recreating the famous Oslo key peace agreement signing process. The Oslo Accords, signed secretly in Norway, marked the first peace dialogue between Israel and Palestine.

Mona's flashbacks in war-torn Gaza are a particular low point, —everything slowed down and dreamy, with washed-out colors, manifesting her trauma. While what she saw of the "conflict" inspired her to use her power at the Ministry to get the "peace" process going. This centers her experience in truly unfortunate ways, as though the film wants us to invest in Mona "healing" her personal wounds through seeing "peace in the Middle East" or some such.

The acting is uniformly excellent, with Salim Dau the real stand-out, and Wilbusch a close second. These are two very fine actors, playing fiery impassioned men, both articulate and exhausted by the conflict. They are worthy foes and powerfully dangerous as allies. Both actors are irresistibly watchable.

The film tells how Mona Juul (Ruth Wilson) and Terje Rød-Larsen (Andrew Scott) bring Palestinian PLO members and Israeli ZG officials together to start a dialogue and try to resolve the conflict. . . Uri says to Ahmed, "Our peoples live in the past. Let us find a way to live in the present."

A little historical background (from Baidu Encyclopedia)

The Oslo Accords refer to the peace agreement reached after a secret meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization Chairman Arafat in Oslo, Norway, on August 20, 1993. On September 13, the two sides signed the "Declaration of Principles of Temporary Self-Government Arrangements" on the lawn of the White House in the United States, which is considered a milestone in the Israel-Palestine peace process. However, two years after the signing of the agreement, Rabin was assassinated by Israeli extremists, and Palestinian extremists also launched successive attacks against Israel. The street conflict gradually turned into an armed confrontation between the two sides, and the implementation of the Oslo Agreement was indefinitely suspended. . . . ╮( ̄▽ ̄"")╭

PS: Who would have thought that the fierce and vicious heroine mother of "Black Matter" would get together with Andrew Scott, the traveler who greeted him earlier in this play (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))
