A movie that has been delayed for a long time, because 3 hours is really long. The film is mainly composed of three acts. The wedding scene in the first act is really long, nearly an hour. It’s just watching these characters dance, sing, and drink, but the three main characters’ personalities are outlined, Michael He is a leader & calculator, Nick is calm and depressed, and Steve is gentle and obedient, which led to the different reactions and experiences of the three people in Vietnam. The female character played by Meryl Streep's expectation of love in a difficult life is also heartbreaking. The second act is nothing more than the most "exciting", in sharp contrast to the carnival-like first act. The scene with the famous Russian Roulette can be regarded as one of the most stressful scenes in movie history. The director deliberately dehumanizes the Vietnamese, uses darker lighting to make the Vietnamese look the same, and does not translate their language without subtitles. The camera was switched faster and faster at the moment of urgency, which created a very tense atmosphere. The three acts can actually be reduced a bit, and time can be intertwined a bit more, but the director should highlight the far-reaching impact of war on these people (friends, lovers, family), and the soundtrack will be longer.
PS Christopher Walken was really beautiful when he was young, and his temperament was absolutely perfect.
