The secret is indifferent

A film with a compact, exciting and very deep plot.

The screenwriter's ability is not inferior to Quentin and the Coen brothers. I mean to compare with such masterpieces as "Pulp Fiction" and "Old Nowhere". The plot is compact and not sloppy, with a wave of discounts, exciting, almost the entire process online. Everyone praised Jami Foster's acting skills, and I think Tom's performance is as good as usual.

I think this film has set a precedent, and it can be called the originator of a kind of distinctive narrative method. What kind of narrative is it? At first sight of the capable policeman at LAPD, did you regard him as the savior? And when he was killed by Brother Atang 2+1, did you feel surprised? When I first saw the FBI leader, I immediately thought of Alessandro in "Border Killer": his face was full of vicissitudes, calm, angular and aggressive. I thought that the next battle was his and Tang, but I didn't expect him to be one. The pawn was kicked in the crowd of Bengdi and was pulled away by the ambulance. In the end, Tom and Jami shot each other. Tom was still accurate 2+1. Who would have thought it was too accurate and completely missed the shot. On the contrary, Jami, who couldn't even drive insurance, hit the opponent's heart with a random shot.

Apart from blood plasma and tuberculosis, what are the deeper things? This movie cruelly criticized human civilization with a paradox. The killer said that a stranger was killed, you asked me angrily; but Rwanda has a million people die every day before sunset, but you don't know it. And when you said that you didn't know Rwanda at all, the killer said that "a person boarded the subway in Los Angeles and died quietly, but no one around found out." Adorno said there was no poetry after Auschwitz, and how much progress has our civilization made since then? Of course the killer also gave advice, trying to tell Max how to live a better life:

I will add one more sentence. I think the killer is very similar to the financial elite. He has a strong ability to withstand pressure, a high degree of professionalism in his work, and he will never give up unless he achieves his goals. He has high income and high risks. The secret is the same: "indifferent ".

I want to say that maybe I haven’t seen the cold world reflected in the killer’s inner world. Maybe it’s not suitable for watching this kind of film.

Collateral quotes

  • Felix: Now you're here. Why?

Max: I lost my stuff. The list.

Felix: I want you to listen to me real well. Special groups put together the list of dedos.

    Max: Dedos?

Felix: Fingers, informants. Signal interceptions with voice-recognition software, surveillance. A very expensive counter-intelligence worked up that list. An important list, wouldn't you say? And you lost it?

    Max: Yeah, I'm sorry. Sorry.

Felix: Sorry? 'Sorry' does not put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

  • Max: The fat man, the penthouse guy, the jazz man. That leaves two.

    Felix: Can you finish?

Max: In six years, when have I not?
