Another Boy of Gus Van Sant

Those worthless teenagers' thoughts, in the hands of Gus Van Sant, became so-called. This rough-looking middle-aged man possesses this ability that is difficult to explain in terms of sexual orientation or the infatuation of blond teenagers. Like elephants, psychedelic parks, trivial and tragic, in Gus Van Sant's film, the event itself takes a back seat, and the word juvenile becomes a lingering emotion.

Despite the subject matter, both narrative and camera handling, Gus Van Sant's approach feels familiar, but it's enough to inadvertently immerse yourself in Alex's world. It might just be a sentence like he likes psychedelic parks because "any of them could have a much worse experience than you". All the skateboarding teenagers appear intermittently in the form of documentaries, challenging new technologies, falling down, and raising their middle fingers. Life seems to be irrelevant, and there is no so-called "different level". Therefore, Alex's words can create enough suffocation.

Perhaps it was simply because of the vision that Gus Van Sant was born to be a beautiful boy. Gabe Nevins is a non-professional actor recruited through MySpace. He is likely to be short-lived, and Alex is unlikely to be as irreplaceable as Mike is in Gus Van Sant's video journey. This child didn't even meet the strict standards of slenderness for a beautiful teenager. The front face was slightly baby fat, but the side face was perfect. During the shower, the visual effects and sound effects were excellent. Gus Van Sant did not hesitate to repeatedly close up the young man's hair tips, neck and shoulders. The boy's face was submerged in the thick water droplets, the water droplets splashed faintly, and the world was only left with the rustling sound of water droplets. The young minds are only concrete so far.

The climax should be attributed to the very religious soundtrack. The holy is still holy, the ethereal continues to be ethereal, but the young man is no longer light when he is tied to a plumb. You can't change things once they happen, right? As trivial and uninteresting, those who weave all kinds of reasons to try to occupy the upper level have never been able to achieve the legendary redemption. Not sure if Gus Van Sant meant sarcasm.

Gabe Nevins was probably selected because of his eyes. Too clear to withstand bumps.
And the traps, unintentional or intentional, are too many.

Paranoid Park quotes

  • Alex: I just feel like there's something outside of normal life. Outside of teachers, breakups, girlfriends. Like, right out there, like outside - there's like different levels of... stuff.

  • Jared: Dude, we should go check out Paranoid Park.

Alex: Dude, I don't think I'm ready for Paranoid Park.

Jared: Yeah, but no one's ever really ready for Paranoid Park.
