I think this movie introduces an unprecedented concept - if there is a cavity under the earth's crust, if the cavity is large enough, and the distance is controlled, there can be a gravitational balance surface!
According to the law of universal gravitation, the magnitude of gravity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the center of mass
Assuming that the earth is a true sphere, and the crust is a homogeneous entity without voids, there will only be one point in the earth where the gravitational force is zero, and that is the center of the earth.
However, not necessarily if there is a void! As shown in the figure below, if there is a hole (blue) near the center, then the left and right hemispheres in blue can each be regarded as two independent giant masses, and the centroids are represented by two points (red)
Although the right hemisphere has more mass, objects can be closer to the left hemisphere because of the void. In the absence of a cavity, there are geometric constraints on the mass of the left and right hemispheres and the distance to the left and right center of mass, which makes the hemispheres with larger mass have greater gravitational force. or face
Then we saw in the movie that the spaceship first fell and was sucked up, and the pumice surface that King Kong reached out to touch, passing through the pumice stone, the magical picture of gravity immediately reversed!
Of course, such a scenario is unlikely to occur in the high temperature liquid near the actual core, but a monster movie can have such a magnificent picture and imagination, and create such a magical underground monster universe for the audience, which is really exciting! far exceeded my expectations
I like monster movies because they are always full of novelty, adventure and unknown, this movie made me experience it again
Is imagination really such a lovely thing?
(The theory is my own conjecture, welcome to correct and add)
