Rewatched the movie Annie Hall today. Once again, I realized the wit and wisdom of Woody Allen.

Ivey is a political comedian. He's a Jew and he hates everyone who talks about the word JEW. Or, someone said a word that sounds like JEW. At the same time, he also hates all those who say New York is bad, because New York is a city with the highest concentration of Jews. This shows the extremes of Ivey.

Ivey likes a sentence, which translates to this: I don't like joining a club where all members are like me. This can see the contradiction of Ivey. He is an intellectual, but when he is with other intellectuals, he will think others are illiterate. But when he really stayed with the illiterate, he would keep showing off his knowledge. From this you can see Ivey's hypocrisy.

From other aspects, we can see that Ivy is a timid, critical, world-weary, and yearning for death...

But despite this, Ivey has many advantages. And his main advantage is that he exudes charm. It can be seen from his first two wives that Ivey is fishing for women who combine beauty and wisdom. But even so, he ended up alone. Because his wife can't stand him thinking about murder while having sex, or being childish when an important guest is visiting.

But even so, Ivey's charm touched the heart of a young lady - Anne Hall.

Anne is a typical young American. She is outspoken, cheerful, and loves to sing. The two seem to be a perfect match on the surface, but in fact, the two are constantly arguing. Annie loves to travel and advocates freedom, but Ivey is a true New York party.

From this, it can be expected that the ending of the two will not be perfect. In fact it is. The two parted peacefully.

Later, Ivey couldn't bear Annie's departure, and he was very lonely. He even flew to Annie's city himself, and drove a car he had never dared to drive. This is enough to prove Ivey's sincerity.

But Annie rejected Ivey. It's not that Annie doesn't love him anymore, it's that Annie doesn't love Ivey's way of life anymore. Annie hates Ivey for disguising her heart. She hated Ivey's hypocrisy. She hated everything about Ivy except his love for her.

But the two are still friends. The two often eat together and chat. Let's talk about the beautiful past and the days when the two were together.

Ivey is now a playwright. And his first work was adapted from the story of himself and Annie. Perhaps, this is the only way for him to pay homage to this love.

But when Ivey realizes the value of love, everything is in the past.

We always realize the value of something at the last minute. But each time, it seemed too late.

Annie Hall quotes

  • Annie Hall: This tie is a present from Grammy Hall.

Alvy Singer: Who? Grammy? Grammy Halls?

    Annie Hall: Yeah, my Grammy.

Alvy Singer: What? You're kidding. What did you do, grow up in a Norman Rockwell painting?

  • Annie Hall: Some of her poems seem - neat.

    Alvy Singer: Neat?

    Annie Hall: Neat, yeah.

Alvy Singer: Uh, I hate to tell yuh, this is 1975, you know that "neat" went out, I would say, at the turn of the century.
