Elegy years of sorrow, joy and disillusionment-faithful to faith, ruined by faith

It is the first time to watch a World War II movie from the perspective of criminals. This is the final story of Hitler and his followers before the destruction of the Third Reich. Personally, this is not only a historical film, but also a film about "suicide" and "disillusionment." The beginning of the movie sets the tone. Hitler and his followers understand that the war will eventually fail and they will eventually be destroyed with the empire. However, they will defend their faith to the death and never surrender.

However, the scenes that followed were like an absurd tragicomedy: the Russian army had arrived in Berlin, and Hitler’s lover, Eva, danced at Hitler’s birthday banquet in gorgeous clothes; prostitutes and officers were surrounded by gunpowder and corpses in the night. Ye Shengge; Hitler madly abused the officer who did not listen to his instructions, but smiled kindly in the sweet singing of the child; the officer and the marshal talked seriously about the best way to commit suicide; the nurse wept and joined and got drunk. The mud soldiers laughed wildly and ridiculed the failure of the war; Hitler married Eva and became a husband and wife, saying goodbye to everyone around him...

A gunshot fell, and the bodies of Hitler and Eva were carried out of the room, followed by gunshots and doses of cyanide, and the Third Reich was completely destroyed. What a fierce joy and sorrow, dwindling, bewildered on all sides, loyal ministers rebelled, faith collapsed, everyone looked so confused and degenerate, everyone was so painful and sober.

Before the fire that burned Hitler and Eva, the elders of the Nazis gave the Nazi salute, and threw the documents that outlined the blueprint of the Third Reich into the fire and turned them into ashes. Against the backdrop of the fire, the film is accompanied by a suicide note written by Mrs. Goebbels to her son:

"... Our beautiful ideals are shattered, and everything in my life, beautiful, worthy of appreciation, and noble and kind things, will also go away... The world after this, if there is no head of state and Nazism is not worth our survival."

But the Third Reich, which tried to wipe out the evil beliefs of other beliefs, Hitler, as the "source of all evil", was full of strong social Darwinism, how could it conquer the world? And those who follow Hitler’s wicked beliefs, ambitious officers, ignorant and fearless Nazi youths, ordinary people who exercise "banal evil", and innocent children who fantasize about living "under the sky of the empire", how can they be jokingly obsessed with faith? , And destroyed by faith?

In the end, most people committed suicide in the sinking of faith disillusionment, and a small number of people, such as the heroine, Jung, the female secretary who was loyal to Hitler's last years, survived into the 21st century. In an interview, the gray-haired old man recalled: “As soon as I remembered that childish little girl, I was so angry that I couldn’t forgive... Six million Jews, as well as people of other faiths and people of other races. I died like that, but at the time I did not connect this shocking and terrifying reality to my past. I only felt that I had no fault personally, until one day I passed the plaque with the deeds of Sophie Scholl... She faced That terrible devil, even if he is too young, should understand some things."

A movie that brings a new perspective of understanding war and re-examines "faith".

The value of this film is to tell the audience that Hitler is also a human being, one of us. We cannot choose him like a vegetable, saying that he is an unprecedented demon, and choosing him is not reflection but escape. What we should think about is, why would a person commit such a heinous crime? Has the next Hitler appeared between you and me?

The meticulous restoration of the fall of the empire, from Hitler's appointment, madness, irritability, and conjecture, to his death and burning, each passage is a highly realistic artistic reproduction of the scene. The editing here does not require more gorgeousness or ingenuity. The long story tells you the step by step disintegration and destruction of the next empire with enough impact. For example, the deadly shot of the greatest mother giving medicine to her children, there is no more suitable method than this. At the end, the heroine driving a bicycle in the sunset is also politically correct.

Traudl Junge: All these horrors I've heard of during the Nurnberg process, these six million Jews, other thinking people or people of another race, who perished. That shocked me deeply. But I hadn't made the connection with my past. I assured myself with the thought of not being personally guilty. And that I didn't know anything about the enormous scale of it. But one day I walked by a memorial plate of Sophie Scholl in the Franz-Joseph-Strasse. I saw that she was about my age and she was executed in the same year I came to Hitler. And at that moment I actually realised that a young age isn't an excuse. And that it might have been possible to get to know things.

  • Walter Hewel: Why do you want to live on?

Prof. Dr. Ernst-Günter Schenck: And you? Why do you absolutely want to die?

    Walter Hewel: You see this?

    [shows him a cyanide cap]

Walter Hewel: The Führer personally gave it to me!

Prof. Dr. Ernst-Günter Schenck: [bitter] As last honor?

    Walter Hewel: ...maybe.
