Person of the Year, Robin Williams, 2006. Talk show actor Tom Dobbs, who makes a living by satirizing current affairs, participated in the presidential election at the suggestion of the audience, won the election due to a computer voting system error, and is about to become president. Eleanor Green, the developer and programmer of the computer voting system, found that the system made a mistake in reporting the company's boss, but framed Eleanor because the boss was afraid of affecting the company's stock. Eleanor had nowhere to go and found Tom, who was preparing to be president, to tell the truth. Tom finally revealed the truth and gave up the presidency to return to the talk show industry, and married Eleanor. It may be intentional. The film sets a very low bug for the computer voting system, that is, the protagonist's surname has two B's, and the sorting takes precedence over the two G's and two L's in the other two candidates' surnames, so male The Lord won the election. The film alludes to a computer-counting error in the 2004 U.S. election. The contradiction, entanglement, and struggling psychology of the male and female protagonists after finding out that the election results were wrong, and the behavior of the software company who framed the female protagonist many times and tried to cover up the truth in order to protect the company's interests after finding out that the program was wrong. It has repeatedly been emphasized that presidential candidates should not prepare campaign funds to escape the control of consortia. The sharp question of whether the president should be loyal to his party or to the United States is raised. It's just that Robin Williams' body movements are too stiff, especially when the range of motion is large. All in all, it's still a movie worth watching.

There's a good starting point... but lack of stamina... Maybe it would be better if the plot was a conflict between comedy stars and politics... If the gimmick at the beginning can still keep a little fresh... That second half of the movie is completely mired in the formulaic running-book of soap movies...

    Sharp words, mediocre stories

Man of the Year quotes

  • Eddie Langston: He's in the debate?

  • Hemmings: Will you be disappointed to be going back to television after this ride?

Eddie Langston: Oh, no. I have a glorious love-hate relationship with TV.

    Hemmings: How so?

Eddie Langston: TV scares me. It makes everything seem credible.

Hemmings: Why is that so bad?

Eddie Langston: If everything seems credible then nothing seems credible. You know, TV puts everybody in those boxes, side-by-side. On one side, there's this certifiable lunatic who says the Holocaust never happened. And next to him is this noted, honored historian who knows all about the Holocaust. And now, there they sit, side-by-side, they look like equals! Everything they say seems to be credible. And so, as it goes on, nothing seems credible anymore! We just stopped listening!
