WandaVision is a "multi-layered drama", so what will it bring? Vision should be a core element.
Before the launch of "Wanda Vision", Marvel used two short films of "Marvel Legends" - Wanda, Vision - to summarize the plot of Wanda and Vision in the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe. For Wanda, the hatred of Stark Industries, the transformation of her by Hydra, and the pain of losing Quicksilver and Vision have basically shaped her at the moment; for Vision, he has carried many roles. "Visions" - Ultron, Tony Stark, Thor - may also include Thanos' visions. Now, Vision mainly carries Wanda's "vision".
Watching "Wanda Vision", I am more concerned about what the "Vision of Vision (Vision)" is. It seems that this is a focus of multi-drama, vision is multi-dimensional here, it is the reshaping of Vision after Age of Ultron has shaped it. In the movie "Age of Ultron", the vision of "Incarnation" has both divinity, monster nature and humanity. There, the deity of vision comes first. It is conceivable that in "Wanda Vision", the "monster" of Vision will be more prominent. Likewise, Wanda, her monstrosity fights against humanity.
{Marvel's Vision (Vision)}
As we all know, the plot of "Wanda Vision" has a lot to do with the comics "Vision (Family)" and "House of M" (also translated as "M Royal Family"). These two comics are critically acclaimed Marvel works, and have a good presentation of the character positioning of Wanda and Vision. Wanda would become more witchy; for Vision, what else would it be but an extension of his Frankenstein-esque setting. Obviously, like those two comics, the idea of family will be central - in those two comics, both Wanda and Vision go mad with the loss of their children. Wanda and Vision's desire for "humanity" is contained in the formation of a family.
Now, the Easter eggs or clues about "Wanda Vision" have obviously been said many times. Such as Tianjian Bureau, Stark's toaster advertisement, Hydra's Strucker watch advertisement, the magical villain Agnes (one is Agatha Harkness, the other is the wife of the hell lord), "The Beekeeper" ...These aspects are settings that reflect Wanda's psychology and show "Wanda's vision". On the other hand, it is eliciting possible villains and paving the way for the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which embeds the vision of Marvel Cinematic Universe. From another perspective, it presents cultural visions other than comics and films, such as the melodrama culture it adopts, and its associated historical culture.
From the Marvel Studios vision, the first two episodes of WandaVision already contain a lot of information. The Tianjian Bureau is associated with many Marvel works - Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Thor, etc. - and will be an important institution for Marvel's plot to face space and the multiverse. One of its important uses for the plot is that it can draw out mutants, just as SHIELD brought out the Inhumans before. The Tianjian Bureau in the comics is a mix of humans, mutants and aliens.
The "beekeeper" that came out at the end of the second episode, according to many guesses, will be associated with the villain organization AIM (Pioneer Technology, which has previously appeared in Marvel movies) closely related to Hydra. At the same time, it can also be easily linked to Doctor Doom, and the Fantastic Four. The relationship between AIM and Tianjian Bureau is likely to be like the relationship between Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D.
The name of the producer of the show at the end of the first episode, Babs digby, comes from the 1940s comedy Riley Life. One of the famous lines, What A Revoltin' Development This Is! It is said that Ben in the Fantastic Four also likes to say this. At the same time, this sentence can also be an interpretation of the plot of "Wanda Vision".
There are some vague and distant visions here, and although Marvel will introduce mutants and the Fantastic Four next, no plans have been announced yet. More recently, "WandaVision" will open a multiverse (it seems more appropriate to call it a multi-layer universe), and "Spider-Man 3" and "Doctor Strange 2" will form a multiverse narrative together.
{Wanda's Vision (Vision)}
Wanda's vision (vision) is to have a family, adjust her mood, and become a real Scarlet Witch. In the previous movie stories, Wanda is still a power man, power from the Mind Stone, not Hades or mutant genes. In "Wanda Vision", Wanda's strong desire for family can be associated with the role of the dark magic department.
As for how to relate, it seems to depend on Agnes' positioning. More speculation believes that Agnes is actually Agatha Harkness. In the comics, she is the leader of the Scarlet Witch and the caretaker of Franklin Richards. It was Agatha who told Scarlet Witch that her two children were actually Mephisto's soul fragments.
There also seems to be speculation that Agnes is an accomplice of the Hell Lord, perhaps Mephisto's wife. She mentioned her wedding anniversary in the first episode, June 2, as the date of the first verdict in the Salem witch trials. Perhaps it was at that time that she developed a stronger bond with the Helllord.
Here, it's also interesting to see how WandaVision continues or ignores the plot of Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 featured Ghost Rider and the Book of Darkness. The "Book of Dark Gods" comes from the oldest god of the underworld, who is also the earliest source of the Scarlet Witch's magical abilities. More importantly, with the help of this god of the underworld, the equipment of the "Dark God Book" can bring "create out of nothing" skills.
The resurrection of Vision is estimated to be inseparable from this. Vision without the Mind Stone is a cyborg, as is Ada in the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was with the help of the "Dark God Book" that Ada realized the transformation from an artificial human to a superhuman. This transformation from "thing" to "person" has theological significance, and we will look at this issue in the next "Vision of Vision".
The "TV culture" used in "Wanda Vision" is not only a review of the characteristics of the times, but also a psychological projection of Wanda. The ads that appeared in the first two episodes reflected Wanda's subconscious. These ads are presented in a home atmosphere. Some people think that the man and woman appearing in the advertisement are actually Wanda's parents (or adoptive parents). They came from the past and enabled Wanda to move from the past to the future: forget the past, this is your future. Wanda is going to (want to) have a new home.
In the comic "Vision (2015)", "toaster" is a derogatory term for Vision, used to indicate that he is not a person. Indeed, there, the Vision is not blessed by the Mind Stone, and is closer to an artifact or an artificial person. Soul issues are ignored. But it's different in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here, Vision is indeed "Made by Stark", and more importantly, he has a mind gem, which gives him a qualitative change.
{Vision of Vision (Vision)}
As for Vision's Vision (Vision), it already has key anxieties lingering outside of superhero comics. The question is, do androids (artificial intelligence) have minds? If Vision is just a "toaster" - as the disparage puts it - then the problem is easier and people don't have to worry too much about his threat. It's just a machine. If it breaks, it will be smashed and thrown away, without any moral burden.
The trouble is, Vision is a monster. He is like a machine and like a man, not just a machine, and not just a man. In the comics "Vision (2015)" and "Wanda Vision", "Vision does not need to eat food", which is emphasized as a manifestation of Vision's "monster nature". In the second episode, the animation of Vision swallowing gum was used to express this weirdness.
Vision Origins in the comics is very different from the Marvel movies. In the animation scene at the beginning of the second episode of "Wanda Vision", a helmet suspected of "Scythe Death" (Reaper) appeared. And this is related to the source of the vision in the comics. In the comics, Vision was created by Ultron, based on the earliest artificial humans, and integrated into the thinking mode of the magical man Simon Williams, and then it became Vision. Simon's brother Eric was transformed into "The Reaper". Eric thinks Vision is a replica of his brother and always wants to destroy Vision.
Visionary identities are accompanied by visions of death. Whether in the comics or in the movies, Ultron's original goal of creating illusions is to eliminate them. He is a monster of narrow logic. As stated in the comics, Ultron's vision (vision) is to "pursue a given goal by logical means". People don't like this overly arbitrary approach. People's fear of vision is also the view of anti-Ultron and anti-vision in the movie "Age of Ultron". There, a "theological act" took hold of his monstrosity.
In the comics, the biggest gulf between vision and living beings is the mind. This is insurmountable. In reality, one can make artificial intelligence closer to natural intelligence through testing, but it is difficult to simulate the "mind". To operate and act in accordance with logical instructions, how can it go to the mind? There is an "uncanny valley" here.
For this problem, in the movie "Age of Ultron", Vision became different with the participation of the Mind Stone and the power of Thor. He's not just an artificial and a replica of someone's brain patterns. He became "what he is", and initially realized the "theological transformation" from things to people.
The first two episodes of WandaVision were largely black and white. This can be an homage to decades-old TV culture, and at the same time, it can have a mind-pattern meaning. Tones of black and white can mean a lack of "reality". There is a gap between the "logical expression" of color and the "reality" of color. The return of color to a more realistic mind.
At present, "Wanda Vision" has only released two episodes, and it remains to be seen what the future direction and meaning will be.
