A little opinion

Three stars-not bad.
When I saw the publicity in the subway, I decided to watch this movie. According to my practice, before watching a movie, block everything about it, especially film reviews.
Then, that day, rushed to the morning show and went to see a triangle* movie.
I have to say, a little disappointed.
The trailer says that this is a story of revenge. And I only saw blood. I saw a johnny who bleeds, bleeds, and then bleeds to death. The rhythm walked slowly for two hours, but didn't feel that it said anything at all. It may be because of the musical, the plot did not bring the audience, at least me, into it, blend into it, and share the same sorrows and joys with the characters. After a movie, apart from being shocked by the blood like a waterfall, there seems to be no other feeling. Can't help but feel a little disappointed with Tim.
After coming back, I saw many film critics admiring him greatly. Looking at the analysis again, I don't agree with it.

First of all, as a musical, its biggest problem is that the music is not good. Johnny's voice is not suitable for singing, this is my opinion. A slightly hoarse, not too pure voice can be heard in the opening song. The heroine's voice has no penetrating power, and when I hear it, it is not professional singing. Only one song is satisfactory, and that is johanna. The voice of the young sailor is transparent, penetrating, loud, and sweet. I like it very much. However, this one is the only one that sounds good. Eh.
Second, the story it tells. As a story of revenge, the movie is over. Just look at it and you can know what the movie wants to show. The theme is obvious. However, the plot and the protagonist's heart did not bring us in. We just stayed in the position of listening to the story and did not integrate into the world of the character. This is a big problem. In other words, there is no appeal. Even the last scene that was supposed to be shocking was indifferent and not sublimated enough.
Then, I want to say, too bloody. In fact, I knew from the beginning that it was a tertiary film, and I knew it was bloody. But I didn't expect such a large, large fragment of blood. Although it can be seen at a glance that the blood is fake, it is completely exaggerated to express the theme, with the color of the stage play, but I can't help but wonder why the focus is basically on those waterfall blood. It is because I can't bear my own psychological endurance. To say nicely is to show the other side of human nature, to say badly is to seek visual stimulation. Really, can't it be a little bit obscure?
Finally, the acting skills of the actors. There is a problem. Except for Johnny, the heroine, and the little boy, everyone else needs to be improved. Especially johanna. So young, so inexperienced, let her come to act? She was supposed to be the clue character of the whole movie, but she seemed so pale and feeble, which made people feel that she was not worthy of being the object of todd's concern, the object of admiration of sailors. Needs to be improved.

However, for Tim and Johnny's sake, I still gave 3 stars.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street quotes

  • Mrs. Lovett: So what are we gonna do about the boy?

    Sweeney Todd: Send him up!

Mrs. Lovett: No, Mr. T. Surely one's enough for today. Besides, I was thinking of hiring the lad to help me run the shop. Your poor knees aren't what they used to be.

    Sweeney Todd: All right.

Mrs. Lovett: Of course, we're gonna have to stock up on the gin. Boy's drinking like a sailor.

  • Judge Turpin: I have news for you, my friend. In order to shield her from the evils of this world, I have decided to marry my dear Johanna.

Beadle: Ah, sir, happy news indeed.

Judge Turpin: Strange, though, when I offered myself to her, she showed a certain reluctance.

Beadle: [sings] Excuse me, my lord. / May I request, my lord, / Permission, my lord, to speak? / Forgive me if I suggest, my lord, / You're looking less than your best, my lord, / There's powder upon your vest, my lord, / And stubble upon your cheek. / And ladies, my lord, are weak.

Judge Turpin: Stubble, you say? Perhaps I am a little overhasty in the morning.

Beadle: [sings] Fret not though, my lord, / I know a place, my lord, / A barber, my lord, of skill. / Thus armed with a shaven face, my lord, / Some eau de cologne to brace my lord / And musk to enhance the chase, my lord, / You'll dazzle the girl until...

    Judge Turpin: Until?

Beadle: [sings] She bows to your every will.
