Indian film slaps deep-rooted patriarchy

Indian director Ambuhaya Sinha is brave. The story of "Slap" is very simple. It takes Vikram slap his wife Eminem at a party as the dividing point, and is divided into two parts with clear rhythm. Before the slap, he showed the sweet and relaxed life after marriage. After the slap, he emphasized the change of Eminem's mentality, which was disappointing and sad. "Slap in the Face" tries to avoid being caught in a dilemma. On the one hand, in order to denounce India's patriarchal system, the husband has the habit of hitting his wife at will, and on the other hand, it avoids discussing whether the relationship between the sexes should be divorced because of a little conflict. In conveying values, focus on the right and wrong of male violence against women after marriage.

Eminem is a housewife. After marrying Vikram, she happily became a housewife. Vikram works for a well-known company and is working on the opportunity to work in London. Eminem revolves around Vikram and takes care of her hyperglycemic mother-in-law. Vikram, who thought he would eventually be able to work in London, learned at a celebration party that he could not be a supervisor in London. Vikram, who had a conflict with the financial officer, accidentally slapped Eminem in the face.

He couldn't beat me, and Eminem, who realized the problem, started to divorce Vikram, and it is very difficult to get a successful divorce in the lawsuit brought by women in India. Domestic violence (especially in rural areas) is a very common fact in India and it is deeply held that it is right for a husband to beat his wife and there is nothing fair or unfair.

Director Ambuhaya Sinha explores how women in India define their place after marriage, revealing how entrenched patriarchy hides in every facet of society. Eminem's mother-in-law felt a slap, no big deal. Eminem's mother believes that women should learn to be patient. Husband Vikram, on the other hand, thought he was just angry and didn't realize his subconscious contempt for women.

All Eminem's efforts are showing the world why this slap is unacceptable, all women are helpless victims of the patriarchy, and why no one dares to stand up and say no. I have to say that Eminem has a very open-minded father. As he said, doing the right thing does not always end in happiness. Finally, Eminem, who was divorced, learned to drive. The nanny who was often beaten began to fight back against her husband, and was beaten by him. Gossip said that a good female lawyer who relies on her father-in-law to be a good lawyer opened her own law firm. The hypocritical society created by everyone was finally ripped open.
