Because the Vietnam War had a huge impact on the development and evolution of American social movements, many Hollywood movies criticized, reflected and constructed on this topic. Among them, Oliver Stone's "Vietnam War Trilogy" can be described as a masterpiece of Vietnam War-themed movies, including "Field Platoon", "Born on July 4th" and "Heaven and Earth".
"Field Platoon" has been watched about seven or eight years ago, but it has not left a deep impression. Watching this film again, many scenes gradually salvaged the old memory fragments one by one, especially the small massacre of soldiers in Vietnamese villages in the film, and Elias's lonely and tragic figure when he was hunted down by many Vietnamese soldiers.
Among the big-name directors in Hollywood, Oliver Stone is particularly fond of political themes and has shot many classic works. The most valuable thing is that the director is fearless and honest when facing the film, the audience, and the country. He does not glorify the ugliness, hides the ills, and does not hide the truth. Just like "Field Platoon", the film makes no secret of its reflection on the Vietnam War and its criticism of the government-the biggest enemy is actually me, and the enemy is in my heart.
Even so, or because of this, Oliver Stone is a true and great patriot.
